Lol, I love how you end your opinion with "period" as if that makes your statement more akin to a fact rather then a flawed viewpoint. I have always sold with the notion that it is my responsibility as a seller to get the package in to the buyers hands, regardless of what happens in-between or...
I honestly think the only thing keeping the transaction boards unusable is (daily) membership volume. Prices, no prices, makes no difference if no one is using or viewing the boards. How to fix that problem I have no idea. If only 5% of daily members are potential viewers/users and we have a...
Just a honest question.
Lets say you purchase something, they do all that you require of a 'honest' seller, but you still never get the item. Are you satisfied being out the money and item as long as the seller 'did all he could' as you stated above, or would you expect the item or a refund?
Perhaps another questions could be; dose anyone think that more people will buy and/or sell cards without the need to list a price?
I really do not think so. Sure a few may be more willing to list(READ: test waters for a sucker) but I honestly doubt it will make any 'big picture' difference.
At the end of the day, and I feel you obviously know this is true already, the seller is responsible for making sure the item arrives in a safe and timely manor. It sucks that the services you used have failed you, but it is not the buyers fault. Expecting him to help or understand is not...
Depending on the time(s), I too wear different hats with regards to collecting. I have zero opinions on others who collect how they like or what they like as I simply appreciate those who appreciate the hobby. Having said that, I am somewhat partial hobbyists who collect well loved vintage.
It seems reasonable to me that if someone is using the transaction boards to sell their wares, then it should be expected (and in this case required) they list a asking price. If they want to hold a auction, well then... they now have that option here as well.
I remember these 3 cards being super hot circa 1990-91, if memory serves correctly the Topps & Fleer were $20+ and the Donruss was a $40+ card.
Bonus points for the Fleer as it had a nice premium initially for Snyder in 1986.
Was going to post the very same thing, but also add the 1986D Canseco RC to the mix. For obvious reasons it was the hottest card in the hobby for a while topping well over $100 for raw copies.
That makes a lot of sense to me, I would be conflicted with separating it up. However, it would not be be easy to decide on who would get it. Part of me thinks it would be nice just to hold a contest, winner takes all.
After rereading the thread I can see why you are clarifying your contention, and I agree that stipulating a grade will probably or even most likely change is wrong. In fact I would say it is a rare case that it actually changes. Having said that, and just to restate my stance on why I do not buy...
Ok, lets say you had a decent collection of cards, one that had some worth to it, and you simply wanted to give it all away. How would you go about it? Break it in to smaller lots and disperse? Unload it all at once to a fellow collector? Give it to the LCS to pass along? Just curious... Lets...
Go back and reread the thread, that is the very reason I do not by rcr and I mentioned it twice I believe. Either way you are spot on, buying a rcr = no guarantee.
THe bolded is really only worth noting, and is for the most part what everyone has been saying. This is why buying a RCR is bypassed by some, including me.
