Unless you have some kind of artistic talent or background, I don't really see a point to this.
Tim Carroll's work is a type of art - he is creating an image using a chosen medium. You seem to be looking for a way to spell out a player's name using some combination of materials. That isn't...
Very interesting regarding the BR link. The story story that was being told during his time in the minors and the early part of his career was that he had taken his wife's last name of Oquendo out of respect for the family, and then later switched back to Snell.
Regardless, Snell's 2004...
Brad, what was the name of the book you were reading? Sounds like something that I would love to read.
Talmer, that card is absolutely stunning. I really need to get around to adding some 205 and 206's one of these days.
Re: 1954 Bowman Signed Set Thread *Updated 5/3* 95.5%!! Done
Amazing cards as always. I never cease to be amazed at how fast you have put such a large chunk of the set together.
Re: T206 Mailday
I wouldn't kill, but I'd certainly be willing to maim beyond recognition ;)
Seriously...I can't wait to see the third card. A signed 206 is waaaaaaaaaaay beyond my price range for the time being, but it's the type of piece I'd love to have one of these days.
No, Mike Kingery's last season with the M's was '89.
I don't know squat about Junior's early auto, but I can tell you for certain that that Mike Kingery is spot on
If anyone can help me finish off a few of these team sets, it would be much appreciated.

Great looking card Dave. I was a bit disappointed that Casey had a ton of very unique cards in 05 sets, but made very few sets once he joined the Buccos.
Though I'm no longer a set builder, I have quite a few holes in my Pirate team sets from over the years that I would love to fill. I'd certainly be able to give them a good home before they hit the landfill if no set builders need them. But I can certainly understand if it's not worth the...
I just got back from the game, and though it was rough as a Pirate fan, it did make for an entertaining (though arduously long) game. I have never seen a game where a team got hit so hard. It's not like an inning or two were blown open by a big error or one bad pitcher. Every pitcher that...
With the starting roster based on fan voting, I would think it is high unlikely, regardless of what kind of stats they put up. While I'm sure everyone in New York would love to see their entire infield starting the game, I would think that many fans in other cities would be equally against it...
It's not just the card stock and design that has changed. Older sets had fun, exciting photography of action shots and the occasional time lapse photos, with a mix of horizontal and vertical cards. Looking through the my Pirate team sets of Topps cards for the past few years, it is painfully...
From a collecting standpoint, I would think Prince, Braun, Gallardo, and possibly even Weeks, Escobar, and Gamel would be ahead of McGehee. There are only so many hobby dollars to go around, and in a market like Milwaukee, I just don't see any room for his cards to go up much.
While this is entirely speculative, I would have to think that on another team, these legal issues would not cause such a drastic reaction. I think the Rooneys are very concerned and conscious of their public image and reputation, and are willing to protect that at any expense to the on field...
The Pirates have alumni signings during just about every day game early in the season. I was able to get Vern Law, Rick Reuschel, and Manny Sanguillen thus far. I'll be trying for autos of active players during the next homestand.
I can certainly sympathize with the fans in Baltimore. The Pirates have lost an entire generation of fans, now going on a second generation. Very rarely do you see anyone below their mid 20's at games, besides some very young children. And when you do see younger people at games, they're...
3 new additions in recently. The Bonds looks a bit questionable to me, but I got it from a trusted dealer at a very good price, so I'm hoping for the best.
Stopped by a local show this weekend looking to pick up some vintage to get signed at a few upcoming signings. I ended up buying a good bit more than I had planned but most of the vintage cards are in outstanding condition and the prices seemed too good to pass up. The same dealer also had...
Regardless of the Harper situation, I would like to see the Pirates take a high ceiling pitcher at number 2. Though the system is now filled with arms from last year's draft and various trades, I don't see anyone that has clear cut ace potential. I have difficulty seeing the team's rebuilding...
I strongly prefer using baby powder over any other method. Unlike using an eraser, which physically removes the gloss from the card, the baby powder just helps the auto 'stick,' and IMO is less noticeable and less damaging to the card's surface.
For lower gloss cards (base Topps, Bowman, UD...
After some quick digging on ebay, I think it's safe to say these box scores are reprints. The Traynor is numbered /100, which though incredibly difficult, they could conceivably dug up 100 box scores from that game. The same could go for the more recent players I saw listed on ebay. However...
