Oh trust me, I wanted to win both, and came pretty darn close. One interesting thing I found about the "game" on Baseball Almanac:
"Did you know that on July 28, 1943, Babe Ruth and Ted Williams had a home run hitting contest at Yankee Stadium? The contest was part of a charity day for the...
Sorry you lost out in the pre-bidding. There were a few items I had tried for then, but bidding was spirited there on Monday, so I had to focus on 2 items. Here is the item I lost out on:

I was the high...
I won 1 and lost 1 (by one $100 bid increment - damn live auctions, I would have bid again). Will wait until there are some responses before I post what I won (and yes, it's hard for me to hold back the excitement, as it's one of those "knock your socks off" type items).
Trying to get this thread back on topic, I will say that some of the combination cards aren't too bad (saw a nice Jeter / Torre / Martinez card), which would be nice if all of the base card didn't look so damn bush league. I honestly think I'd rather have signed index cards than these things.
That's certainly laughable as well, but considering that Upper Deck has both feet in the grave and is bailing the dirt out at a slower pace than it's being shoveled down upon them, I don't know if I'd use them as a good measuring stick.
If that's the case, insert my quote from above here. So Brian, did you fire the person response for that blunder, or was it something that was outsourced, so you can't fire the person directly?
I'd certainly say it's a big deal. If it were a cracked holder I would understand, but if it's "smooth", then something is certainly off. Have you reached out to PSA to see what they say? I'd talk to them before I talked to the auction house.
If I remember correctly, they were busted by someone over on the PSA boards who tracked their fraud through serial #'d 1998-99 SP Authentic Basketball cards.
When the 2 sides of the slab are put together, does it appear "frosty" at all, like someone had cracked a card out, or that these were 2 fresh slab halves?
There wasn't much that was going to go for a cheap price in that auction. I managed to get this at what I thought was a damn good price: http://www.huntauctions.com/phone/imageviewer.cfm?auction_num=100&lot_num=209
What I'm planning on doing is submitting everything that I've won to SGC to...
Honestly, I wanted both of them, but was working on a budget, and had already exceeded it with other items I had won during the auction (namely this: http://www.huntauctions.com/phone/imageviewer.cfm?auction_num=100&lot_num=14), so I couldn't bid again on that other one. As for why it went for...
It was done through Hunt Auctions. Here is the listing for the Leaf Patch:

I won that one, was the underbidder on the UD one (just couldn't go again), and am pissed at myself for losing track of the Williams / Sosa...
I was thinking about it this morning. The only one I remember ever seeing was the Matt Bush, and even that was many years ago. Have any of the others popped up in the hobby?
Skybox never had a deal with Jordan for autographs. As for the other card, even if it had the matching UDA card and matched a database lookup, I don't think I'd buy it.
That would be odd. The last thing I saw on it was that they have moved the date up to early May, then it got pushed back so that they could ensure no redemption cards. If that isn't the case, and it's been sitting in warehouses, then it's even stranger than I thought.
Then again, nothing...
