Exactly. All over the map in terms of prices, but no information. Mine is nice (no scratches like the one that PAO was selling), but my web searches haven't found much in the way of info (worthpoint shows one sold in 2010, but I'm not a subscriber so I can't see the full description from that...
The grouping may seem a bit odd, but it would be akin to a bat signed by Jason Heyward, Eric Hosmer, Michael Pineda, Craig Kimbrel, Jeremy Hellickson, Freddie Freeman, etc., (get a bunch of good rookies from a 2 year period and get them to sign a bat). The inclusion of Grissom, DeShields, and...
I had never seen / heard of this signed bat until recently:

I picked one up recently in great shape for less than $200, but am curious as to what the story is with them. I don't ever remember them having been offered back in 89/90 , and...
Are you in a 1 or 2 starting catcher league? If it's only 1, I think you have a a few too many, and would look to deal them for a RP. Also, I'd suggest getting a good backup / total replacement for Stephen Drew. Otherwise, it's a good team.
I have Strasburg on my team, and was offered Jason Heyward for him straight up. One issue to mention is that if I keep Strasburg on my team all year, I can get to have him on my squad next year for $14 (whereas I could keep Heyward for for $23). I do need a better OF, but Strasburg was going...
Was made an offer in my league:
I give up Eric Hosmer and Sean Marshall and get Prince Fielder and whoever he is cutting.
My team as it stands right now:
C
Napoli, Mike
C
Pierzynski, A.J.
1B
Hosmer, Eric
2B
Cano, Robinson
3B
Longoria, Evan
SS
Andrus, Elvis
MI
Barney, Darwin...
And getting rid of a headache.
I do say that I like the Indians getting Abreu. He's got something to prove (and is playing for a contract), and should be a nice pickup for the Indians.
Total and utter collapse of the market. As long as fraud remains profitable, it will continue. It's the same in nearly all hobbies, it's just that the $ in this one is a little bit higher, there is more personal investment since it involves the sports we all love, and hits close to home...
Re: The "HOLY CRAP" end-price Thread
Is it just me, or does putting a freshly pack pulled die cut card like that into a one touch seem like a bad idea. I'd prefer to see it in a top-load, but that might just be me.
Was going to mention that (didn't see this thread until now). Lots of team signed balls from the Dodgers in the 50's were half - clubhouse or more.
Some great items, but to get a good return for them, you'll have to pay for authentication (or consign them to an auction house that will do...
My feeling on the matter is this:
even if they weren't on them themselves, they
1). knew about it and were silent
2). benefited from their teammates that did use them (IE; scoring more runs, getting more RBIs, more wins, etc.)
3). even if they weren't taking them, odds are they were using...
Brett Gardner's family (Mom I think) was buying a bunch of his cards from me back in 2005/06. I've sold to more than a few other people who appear to be related to the player featured on the card (same last name, etc.), but never really bothered to check further. Olbermann has been buying...
Considering that it's from Heritage, that is some pretty epic failure right there. I'd love to hear the story / excuse from PSA/DNA and JSA
Having said that, the guy writing the article has a bit of a "colorful" hobby history as well:

Interesting. I thought PSA wouldn't grade Nestle cards because they were sheet cuts. Have they changed their policy?
And as others have said, the B/W cards are fakes. The "3rd Variation" one posted above is a bit odd, since there weren't any variations produced, but I'd say it's a fake as well.
Nick Adenhart (RIP) and Dexter Fowler were both only in 04 EEE. He's not quite "notable" yet, but I think Fowler still has a chance at having an OK career.
