David Ortiz and Prince Fielder picking HR derby teammates...

Gonzalez might be too pure a hitter for this kind of thing. I have a feeling Bautista is going to put on an absolute show.

Why should Albers get the win (Sox game tonight)

Yup, that's justthe way it works. I don't think it makes sense either.

What are those ropey things the players are wearing today?

Dude, your sig is enormous. Are you talking about Phitens?

Jose Bautista sets all-star votes record!!!

Griffey's total is far more impressive. This year I voted for Bautista 25 times with the rest of my ballot, all from my couch. For Griffey I would have voted maybe twice, when I went to an MLB game and used the paper ballot.

Konerko AL last spot/ shouldn't even be close

Voted a bunch of times. Konerko, for obvious reasons, and Helton because he hasn't been an AS since 04 and I think he has been snubbed a couple times.

CY Young / MVP candidates nearing the All-Star Break

Actually, this is not quite true. Check out this table. http://www.baseballprospectus.com/sorta ... id=1013928 It is sorted by the percentage of players on base a player drives in (minimum 200 plate appearances). Gonzalez is 5th, Bautista is 125th. Now, Bautista has driven himself in 26...

CY Young / MVP candidates nearing the All-Star Break

Consideration, yes, but look at last year. His 54 dingers earned him a fourth place finish. Miguel Cabrera finished second with a .328/.420/.622 line (this year he's at .331/.450/.581). So while voters do like the longball, it doesn't necessarily equal a top two finish. Also, one stat that...

A couple of maildays and another shoutout

First off, I sent some cards in with the FCB Group Sub a while ago. A couple Fine 9s for the PC (for now at least) And a couple for flipping eventually: Picked this up on the Bay: Then the rest of the cards are from a deal I made with Scott (schillingfan) who is getting out of the hobby...

WOW!!! The Mets are POUNDING the Tigers tonight.

Can't remember the last time I saw a guy slug over .520 with only three home runs....Reyes is incredible.

This is why the AS voting is stupid

I'm a huge Sox fan, and I even gagged a little bit when I saw Scutaro on that list. I put in 75 votes for Cabrera.

Youkilis wants DH in (NL Parks) Interleague and World Series

Not sure I'm following you here. Surely NL teams have reserve players who would hit better than their pitchers.

    Any Josh Reddick Believers?

Looking at MiLB stats only, his walk rate has doubled from 7% (2007-2010) to 14% (2011). The plate discipline has really paid off as he is getting on base more and getting better pitches to hit.

    Milb Performances - 6/16 (Matt Moore = No-Hitter!)

Viciedo 3-4, 2 2B, HR What the box score doesn't show is that all three of these XBH were crushed oppo to right center. Some crazy power there, I wonder when this kid is gonna be called up.

    Milb Performances - 6/16 (Matt Moore = No-Hitter!)

Re: Milb Performances - 6/16 (One Great Matchup Tonight) Posting from the Chiefs/Knights game. Peavy is pitching on rehab, already saw him two weeks ago at Fenway, weird luck I guess.

Who do you think will win the AL Cy Young Award this year?

At this point I think it's close between Verlander and Beckett, but there's still a ton of baseball to be played (cough cough, Ubaldo Jimenez).

Derek Holland 9 strike outs through 4

I was going to say he's certainly going against the right team because of how bad the Twins offense is, but after looking it up, they strike out the second-least in MLB. Apparently they put the ball in play a lot and still suck.

Who's the worst offensive player in baseball?

If you like WAR as a statistic, you're right. 0.7 dWAR and -0.5 oWAR.

Re: RedSox vs Yankees..... I really want this game to be played, such a great pitching matchup.

MLB Performances Thread 6/9: Rizzo's Debut

Yeah, I picked him up for a start on my fantasy team tonight. Also have Verlander, Gallardo, and Collmenter going, all of whom look solid so far.

    Nooooo....Pedroia possible surgery.

DAMNIT!! This absolutely sucks. He's not having a great year but he holds this team together like no other. So Scoot plays 2nd with Lowrie at short til PD gets back? Please no more Drew Sutton... Also, I could see them moving Crawford into the two hole. Or Drew.

    Say it ain't so...Mark Grace

Seems like this has been picking up pace with Choo, Kearns, Lowe, La Russa, Cabrera, and now Grace. Hopefully he can learn something from his mistake. How people ever make the decision to drink and drive puzzles me. Maybe I just have it nailed into my head as never being an option and assume...
