I still believe that those numbers mean something, at least to me anyways. The way I look at it that list includes very few players who played in the 30' and 40's, so the in the 30 years from 1950 to 1980 most of the top 20 list was populated. In the 30 years since 1980 the list has doubled, or...
Yeah, I just lost out on what would have been my 10th. I'm convinced there are more than 15 for each player. As pictured I've collected 9 of the Thompson cards, lost out on at least 4 or 5 more, but some of those might now be included in my 9 as they come up for sale every so often by different...
Anyone win the Robby Thompson? I lost out on the card, my three kids were sick all night long and I completely spaced on increasing my bid. If someone here did win the aution I'm willing to double the price to obtain the card. Thanks.
Also did anyone win their player from the seller, I noticed...
Nice, you and me might be the only two on these boards who get the reference. Atlee was never the same after that game. Great showing for the Giants tonight!
As I promised earlier here are the scans of the nine Thompson's I own. I apologize for the large scans.
The placement of the Aqueous Test printing is the same for all nine, and the one listed on Ebay looks to be the same. Also, each of the cards show the same cut pattern, hand cut or not, as the...
It's tough to argue with how well the Giants are pitching right now, heck even the vaunted Phillies staff didn't thow four consecutive shutouts. I love to see some All-Star buzz for Vogelsong too, he's had an amazing year.
Why are people so down on Melky? He leads the majors in hits, second in BA, 3rd in runs scored, tied for 1st in triples and 7th in OBP. All that on a Giants team that ranks 23rd in runs scored.
Did Topps state the odds somewhere or were the odd determined by math? I ask because this could be a case like the 2006 UD FX Blue card where the stated print run was something like 1 in 6 packs but in reality it was 1 in 30 or more packs. So if the odds were stated incorrectly or never stated...
I see it differently, but that's the greatness of the baseball.

Mays had too much speed to be put behind Ruth, Williams and Gehrig....they'd clog the bases eliminating Mays speed, plus Mays had the same or better power potential...
Mays as a 6th place hitter??? The man has the fourth most HR in the history of the game, he lost a year to the war, played in a ball park that was unkind to right handed hitters and he faced Gibson, Koufax, Spahn and Drysdale on a regular basis. Plus he stole 338 bases from the three hole in the...
I would agree Nolan, both of those sigs look off.....The Clark has some of the right hallmarks, like the detacted L and the star looking K. But the rest looks too spread out, the W and C are too small, I can't recall Clark including a loop in the C, the A isn't typically closed at the top and...
