365 DAYS OF RED SOX DAY 41 - KENNER SLU 1988-2001 VARIOUS YEARS

Love the pictures and historic descriptions. I collect '80s and some early '90s oddball sets. Never knew that McDonald's set existed. Glad we're getting a full year of this thread!

    League alignment and the Dodgers

A Brewers-Astros World Series would truly feel weird. I still often think of them being in the other leagues.

Get in on this 1960 Topps Set Break

Maybe I'm misunderstanding, but why does it matter if they're breaking up a $2000 set to sell individually for $5720? Set breaks (selling every card in a set individually) are done all the time on eBay. If I ever decided to sell my 1958 Topps set and I had the time and patience to sell...

Get in on this 1960 Topps Set Break

I've been tempted to try this since the '60 Mantle is my favorite Mantle of that decade and I've always wanted one. I have a '60 Aaron and a few other stars. I love that set and my dad had a bunch as a kid (that were thown away).

    Best Offers Within eBay Auctions

eBay's been pissing me off with their new Best Offer rules. They now automatically add Best Offer to your non-auction Buy it Nows after ten days even if you don't want it. eBay sends you a message saying, "Good news! Now your items have a better chance of selling!" I woke up this morning to...

How about a brick of 1993 sp baseball

I'm glad I put all my sets in Ultra Pro pages in binders. I bet if they were still packed tightly in boxes they'd be stuck together now. They don't stick at all in pages. Maybe someday '90s and '00s sets in pages will be worth a fortune since the vast majority of them will be ruined kept in...

How about a brick of 1993 sp baseball

I’d never pay more than a few bucks for any box of a really glossy set more than a few years old. Especially ‘90s stuff like Ultra, Stadium Club and even base Topps. It’s almost all stuck together now. I just watched a video yesterday of a guy looking through a stack of 2003 Topps and every card...

    Every #1 Topps card

I liked when they led off the set with Highlights or Record Breaker or League Leader cards. Reminds me of building sets as a kid in the ‘80s. Then the ‘90s hit and they were gone.

That's what I wrote in my last paragraph.

    Some stuff to look at

Oh my, now this is a thread. Always nice to open a topic and get blown away by what you see. Gorgeous cards.

Albert Belle Redemption - What To Do?

In these situations I blame the players much more than Topps. The players sign a contract to provide a certain number of signatures. If they blow off that obligation, Topps should threaten legal action. Maybe that would light a spark under the ass of some of these players who are too lazy to do...

Let's All Do the Triple-A Shuffle

I’ve never understood why Major League teams have some their affiliates thousands of miles away. I used to live in West Texas and our AA team was/is the Oakland A’s AA team. Why in Texas? The A’s are the Rangers’ and Astros’ division rival, but the team is in Texas. There’d be a lot more A’s...

#1 PSA Registry T206 Set Breaking Up

I wouldn't be surprised if Keith Olbermann buys a lot of the cards. He has an incredible tobacco and early card collection.

365 DAYS OF RED SOX DAY 41 - KENNER SLU 1988-2001 VARIOUS YEARS

I always thought Clemens looked odd as a Blue Jay. Nice description of the events that went down with Clemens leaving from your relative first-hand view.

Mets' David Wright retiring at end of season.

The Mets have an insurance policy on Wright, so they’re off the hook for most of that money. Insurance covers 75% of Wright’s past and future salary through the end of his contract. So, for example, the Mets only have to pay for $5 million of Wright’s $20 million salary this season. Here’s an...

Mets' David Wright retiring at end of season.

Maybe he'll be like Ichiro and stay with the team in the front office with the option to come back, especially since he is signed for two more years.

Mets' David Wright retiring at end of season.

Such a shame that a once great player has had so many injuries. He was a class act and seemed like a future Hall of Famer his first seven or eight seasons, then the chronic injuries struck. The Mets say they'll activate Wright for the final homestand, then he'll retire as a lifelong Met.

Trevor Story has done what no MLB'er has done since 2015

Story just became the first shortstop in Major League history with at least 30 homers, 40 doubles and 25 steals. I figured Arod would have done it, but he fell just short a few times. What an incredible all-around season Story is having.

    can this ball be real?

So if someone rubbed it down a little, is there a way to tell it wasn't made in 1980? Any different markings? Seems like it would be easy to claim it was a foul ball.

What's the most BEAUTIFUL card you have ever set your eyes on?

I agree. An unlicensed card with a blank airbrushed uniform and cap totally ruins a card’s aesthetics, regardless of the design or patch.

Trevor Story has done what no MLB'er has done since 2015

Story's having an MVP caliber season and few were talking about him until last night. Not only does he have 30+ homers and almost 100 rbi, but he's hitting .300, leading the league in both doubles and total bases, and has 25 steals. He's about to become a 30-30 player, something Trout's done...
