I think this is a good pick up for the Padres and Petco Park. I'm looking forward to seeing what he can do. Like an earlier poster said, he can slap the ball and run. I don't like the idea of bringing power hitters to Petco anyway.
The Mazeroski effect? I don't think so--that's a pretty shaky limb.
edit: although, it's hard to disagree with someone who has such pretty psa/dna auto RCs in his sig.
"Who names their kid Trout?" -- my wife's question when she saw me looking around on eBay today
I sure hope I win that Trout Hicks Singleton card--he's gonna be awesome!
Pretty stuff. Seeing that Diamondbacks Schilling patch reminds me that I've seen a few nice Williams patches from D-Backs uniforms--but I really prefer his Giants stuff. Once in a while I'll come across it cheaply and snag it, but that's rare. I was glad to add that ATFF auto for $12 (nice...
Thanks for looking. I mainly focus on IP Auto RCs (preference goes: auto on a FY card, then RC logo, then minor league). What I get signed depends on what I have/can get cheaply. I don't spend that much on my collection compared to what I've seen on these boards, but I am having a blast with...
Thanks! I've wanted this card signed since I started collecting auto RCs. Next on my list, I'd love to get a Rickey Henderson RC signed that looks halfway decent.
In June my home was robbed and most of my PSA/DNA slabbed auto RCs (most of which I got signed in person) were stolen. The robbers left me a short stack of Peavy PSA/DNA Auto RCs. Most weren't much to sneeze at, but I did lose a '79 Topps Ozzie Smith AU RC and an '87 Donruss Maddux AU RC, as...
I thought about that, but I'm not really a bar person. Plus, I can see that as a solution for a game or three, but I intend to catch every pitch possible. I don't want to come out of this postseason with a drinking problem.
We stopped subscribing to cable/satellite about a year ago, so I've made due with attending a few games and listening to a few on the radio--but I am definitely in need of a baseball fix. And the postseason is my last shot until my yearly Spring Training trip.
Is Postseason.tv a good option...
Ha ha! I can't believe I grew up in the 90s and hadn't heard of that show until I subscribed to Netflix. I guess I didn't spend enough time on MTV late at night.
Besides going after the game to ask players for autographs as they left the stadium, I went to:
4 Padres games
3 Lake Elsinore Storm games
and a 3 or 4 Spring Training games--but I didn't stay for the whole game then.
Just curious.
I love to get rookie cards signed in person. I go to Spring Training each year for the past 3 years or so to help add to my collection. I also find myself at about 10-20 games (San Diego) each year to get Padres and visiting players. I'd have to say the best addition to my...
Thanks folks. The fact that this card is original (whether a warehouse leftover or a buyback) makes it a more significant part of my collection.
I appreciate your help,
Anthony
Hi folks,
I recently bought my first Recollection Collection auto. I got a Matt Williams (childhood favorite) '88 Donruss, numbered to 78. I collect autographed RCs, so I thought it would be cool to pick this one up. I expected a reprinted card, but this card looks a lot like the regular '88...
Also not an autograph "expert", but I have got Vizquel's autograph in person before so I guess I can chime in. My opinion: that's a very nice autograph that Omar took his time on while at a book signing.
