Him and is son both hit the exact same number of career home runs.
That's crazy.
Cecil Fielder has a career WAR of only 17, Lou Whitaker's is the highest not in the hall of fame at 75 (if your friend wants a Tiger to root for). Tony Fernandez is a 42 for comparison. Chili Davis is 38. Dave...
Whitaker has the highest career WAR of any eligible player not in the HOF
All seem like good candidates. I'd have to go with Murphy who led the 1980's in RBI and was 2x MVP
Saw these two excellent variations for 1990 and 1991 Topps on Ebay recently. Both have catalog potential.
Bobby Cox has the wrong background underneath the text.
The checklist lacks the "Continued On Checklist..." line
I'll have to check on the Bobby Cox but didn't have any 1990 checklist...
I'd be willing to bet that Fleer used Microsoft Paint to design that set. It STUNK!
The crazy thing is they had the golden ticket design wise but only used it on the all star card rack pack inserts. If they had done that for the base set, 1991 Fleer would be a candidate for GOAT

I think most if not all of the 1992 Gold Leaf Rookies can be found with "silver" versions. Pictured here are two I found at a flea market a few years back. Picked up the set and about 1/2 were the silver versions.
Not sure about numbers but they are certainly significantly more scarce than the...
Got in on quite a few of those. Was mostly looking at well centered commons that had a chance at 10.
Very strong prices on stars. I was most surprised by the $676 the Maddux went for. Did not appear to have great centering L/R.
Also Joe Carter and Larry Walker hitting $125.
I'm sure Jeff Blake is in the East Carolina Hall of Fame.
Really was a great QB but unfortunately had to play for the Bengals. I'm sure they'd take Blake over Andy Dalton.
OK - believe this to be the other player on the the Frank Thomas card.
Vince Campbell of the University of North Carolina-Wilmington.
The colors of his uniform are consistent with UNCW's school colors (green, yellow, teal).
UNCW played Auburn in baseball on March 8 and 9, 1989.
The other...
Only problem with the Tulane / Frank Thomas theory is that Auburn did not play Tulane in 1987, 1988 or 1989.
Auburn did play UNC-Wilmington whose school colors are navy blue, teal and gold.
Unfortunately UNCW has even less info than Tulane to make comparisons.
Found his linkedin page. Might be someone who would respond to an inquiry as apparently he is the current commissioner of Panamanian winter ball.
