I purchased a lot of cards from Rainout Sportscards from the Beckett Marketplace on Feb. 27. USPS says shipping info was received on the 28th, but there hasn't been any updates stating the cards have actually been shipped. Their store on the marketplace now loads a 404/Page Not Found error. I...
Added some more pieces to the Red Sox portion of my Ellis Burks collection (and one Indians item.) I'm now sitting at 74.3% of all his Red Sox related items.

I've been trying to acquire one bat for each team Burks played for throughout his career. Until now, a bat from his days with Colorado has eluded me. Finally landed one last week. Here they are:
Boston Red Sox (two more Red Sox bats at the bottom of this post):
Chicago White Sox...
How rare are these?

I've seen this one pop up often, and I'm thinking of making an offer. I'm not sure how many exist, or how common this error is overall.
Added two more GU bats to my Ellis Burks collection today. The first is from 1990-92 with the Red Sox, and the second is from 1993 (White Sox.)
If anyone stumbles across a Burks bat from his days with the Rockies, please let me know.
Mailman dropped off the 1988 MSA Super Stars '88 Disc variation for my Burks collection today:
That was the last variation I needed to complete the set:
New additions to the Burks collection have been slow as of late. I did manage to pick up a couple of big ones lately, however. First is a GU bat from his '04 stint with the Red Sox. He only played in 11 games that season, so gamers are rare. Second is his 1989 Topps Heads Up Test...
I never really liked displaying my vintage collections on my Ellis Burks site. They don't seem to fit the look and feel. After "re-branding" my old T206 site, I launched red-type.com to display my T210 set and 1887-1957 type card collection. Feel free to let me know if you notice any browser...
I'm trying for one GU bat from each team Burks played with. Added this one to the collection today from his Cleveland days. Just need bats from Chicago and Colorado.
$20 shipped for all three.

One of my Ellis Burks collection goals for 2012 was to add a GU bat from either the White Sox, Rockies, Giants, or Indians. Thanks to Steve at sfbatrack.com, that goal has been accomplished:
Take a look at Steve's site. He has an amazing collection featuring approximately 325 Giants GU bats.
Earlier today I added the Ellis Burks/Kevin Seitzer Tetely Tea full panel to my Burks collection. I now have the Our Own Tea, Tetley, and Weis Winners panels. I know I need the Key Foods and A&P issues, are there others from the '88 issue? Are the panels that only say Super Stars part of the...
Is this show still going on every Sunday? I'm thinking of bringing our daughter (3 1/2) to her first show. She's a huge Jon Lester and Andrew Ference fan. :)
Thanks to tpeichel for assisting with my Ellis Burks checklist and for a great transaction!
The goods: Six 1988 Broder types, a 1988 OPC blank back, 1991 Baseball Card Magazine full panel, 1991 Baseball Card price guide full panel, and 1991 Cracker Jack full panel:

Just finished "re-branding" my former Adam LaRoche site to make a new home for my Ellis Burks collection. It can be found at:
www.ellisburkscollector.com.
I'm looking for all Burks cards I don't have yet, but cards from his days in Boston are a top priority. My Pedro Martinez and RC...
While updating my site, I noticed a distinct difference between the regular 1990 Donruss base and the non-Aqueous test cards missing the period at the end of "LEAF, INC":
Regular
No period
Is the latter card some type of proof? Aside from the lack of a period and color variation, the no...
With today's mail, I added the green variation and finished off my Ellis Burks 1989 Donruss Grand Slammers rainbow:
What's with the purple variation? The card is narrower than the other two, the picture quality is better, the back border has a different color (could be whiter/brighter...
On the 4th of July last year, my wife, daughter, and I were at my parent's house for a cookout. Just before leaving, our daughter discovered my stash of cards I had as a kid (mostly '86-'93 issues.) I noticed one box that was taped shut and marked "E.B. ." Inside was a collection I...
