I'm sorry, but I had to throw my phone against the wall because the onslaught of lies he was spewing was getting to me, and I was just at the "preview" episode.
I'll chime in. But I'm sticking to the eponymous products from the five main companies back then (Pacific doesn't count...sorry Pacific fans). Heck, I won't even show my bias for the Topps company here. By design only:
1990 - Score
1991 - Upper Deck
1992 - Topps
1993 - Upper Deck
1994 -...
I have one for you:
2003 Topps ATFF Autographs Tug McGraw #TMC. He was one of twenty players who were not part of the base set but was to have an autograph card in the set. I bought a redemption on the Bay, sent it out, and received a Chad Qualls finest auto card as a replacement. I knew he...
2012 Topps Series 1, 2, and Update Series. The base and regular (non auto/relic) insert sets for each as well.
All 30 of the 2012 Topps MLB Team Sets.
As long as I get those, I'll be happy. If there is any money left, it's going to find master sets on the Bay of:
2007 Topps Turkey Red
2009...
I added matfanofold's blog to the Sports Card Blogroll last night. Is that it? Is that the only blog from the FCB Writer's Guild that is up and running? Are there more coming? Are you only allowing your guild access to the blogger's only forum?
This is the third time they've changed the way the teams are selected, espeicially the pitchers.
Up until 2009, the teams always included a right-handed pitcher and a left-handed pitcher. In 2010, they added a relief pitcher to the rhp and lhp (probably to include Topps' wonderboy Stephen...
I get the fact that he's trying to grow the site. And I'm not saying that it can't be done (there is another Hobby forum out there that has an established blog that allows its members to write articles of the quality that Chris is looking for in his original post). Since he was offering money...
Not really. I know what he's asking for. I could make the same comparison using sites on the SCBR. If I wanted to read about baseball cards, I'd read Chris Olds. If I wanted to read about baseball cards and actually be entertained, I'd read Chris Harris.
It takes a committment to put out...
I'll save everybody the hassle. All of the things being discussed as topics for a "blog" have at one point or another been written by someone in the Hobby Blogging Community. gilmo, how about this, just link the Sports Card Blogroll (the link is in my signature) to your main page. My SCBR...
No problem. Do you think you can send scans of everything you got from 1976 onwards (no need for 2009-12...I have those too) in exchange. When you can. No hurry. Thanks.
Craig:
I have actual sell sheets for a number of Topps sets from 2001-2008 (as I thought it was a brilliant idea to save sell sheets for my sets as well). I even have a sell sheet for 1991 Topps Micro. If you need scans, just let me know. I'll go through everything this weekend.
Just been announced that Epstein did place a call to Sandberg to tell him that he WON'T be the Cubs' manager in 2012, nor are they going to interview him. So you can scratch his name off the list of potentials.
On a related note, Sandberg thought that the phone call was a nice gesture on...
There was a site called sportscardpedia.com back in the mid 2000's, but it became just too much work to maintain as they tried to focus on all-sports. It (the site) eventually got lost to the spammers.
I think focusing on one sport is just fine.
Weren't there actual sample/promo cards made and distributed for 2001 Topps (the regular sized cards)? I remember seeing a Craig Biggio promo card on the Bay once or twice, but no other cards. I have sample cards from 2002 through 2005 and then 1991-2000, but none from 2001 and am now...
How is this going to be any different from what UD was trying to [strike:1a0j0776]get away with[/strike:1a0j0776]...I mean...do in 2010? Short of having the Players Association on board, how are they going to "present major league baseball players in a unique and exciting way?" Will caps and...
If I chose not to buy cards because I didn't like the design, I'd be missing a few sets in my collection. I'm a completist, and I like the continuity of it having a complete set of Topps cards for every year that I am able to do it. It would just tear me up inside if I didn't.
Baaaaaaaaaa.
