    75 Years Ago Today

Nice way to start a career. Is that a MLB record?

Should Michael Young Get HOF Consideration In A Few Years?

I have tried to learn to judge a players career at the end of it and not halfway or 3/4 through. I was firmly in the "Griffey Jr. will defintely hit 700+ maybe 800+ homers before all is said and done" camp in the mid 90s. I was also a huge Kevin Maas guy...... so much for that camp.

    Bryce Harper... at it again

    Wow, what a shot

What is wrong with Mariano Rivera?

I was gonna say that most years he has a bad stretch of a week or so. Sometimes it's early in the year and sometimes it's later on.

Drew Stubbs making a run at K record

I forget which baseball book I read when I was younger but back in the 50s, 60s and 70s guys would dread hitting the 100k mark for the year. Guys would go so far as to opt out of the last day on the season or fake an illness to avoid the 100k distinction. But those guys weren't swinging for the...

    Going to Cooperstown

My girl and I stayed at the Holiday Inn Express about 10 minutes outside of town and it was fabulous. Check out the Ommegang Brewery while you're up there as it's well worth it.

Anyone going to the Lakewood Blueclaws game tonight?

I was thinking of going Ty, but I have to help a buddy out. Maybe if I'm done at a reasonable hour I'll head down

    42 Years Ago Today

I'm glad I'm not old enough to remember when they beat up NY in the series. I'd have a reason to hate Joe Morgan even more

    Dan Uggla on Fire

I'm glad he's doing better with the bat. Any word of why he was sooo miserable earlier in the year?

    Ryan Howard is on FIRE!!!!

Or if he played in Petco he might hit 30. Lot's of what ifs.........

MLB probing A-Rod on gambling claims

Boredom. Or he's competative in other areas of his life. Look at MJ. Countless others who don't need the money but the thrill that's associated with the game

    Alfonso Soriano is Amazing when.....

I loved him on the Yanks until pitchers figured out he never saw an outside breaking pitch he didn't like

    32 Years Ago Today

I remember this day like it was yesterday. The only 2 times in my life I've seen my Dad down and or crying was when Thurman crashed and when John Lennon was shot. Wasn't Bobby Murcer supposed to be with him in the plane?

The hits just keep coming from FCB. Great job getting this done guys. Unfortunately for me I quit baseball/card blogging this Spring. Best of luck to everybody that gets aboard.

That was a great season he put together in '29. I had no idea he was my size.

    Miami Marlins

Hopefully with the new ball park they draw better. It must get kinda depressing to play in front of an empty or mostly empty house every night. Good luck to them in their new digs.

I wonder if Fredo took Michael to that game.

Chien Ming-Wang to pitch Friday July 29th

I just think they pulled the trigger too quickly for a guy who pitched lights out for them in the regular season . How long do I think they should have given him? With an injury like that I'd say 2 years minimum. Just like elbow/shoulders sometimes take a bit to heal. It's not like the guy was...

Chien Ming-Wang to pitch Friday July 29th

I for one can't believe how quickly the Yanks gave up on him. I would have thought that putting 2x 19 win seasons back to back would give a pitcher some currency. I mean look at the guys they pulled off the scrap-heap this year alone?

Nice pickups, that Jordan/Kareem/Russell is super-sweet!
