I picked these up recently: 1993 Topps Black Gold Winners C/D Exchange Error (with NL players pictured) and Corrected (with AL players pictured). I had been under the assumption that the C, D, and C/D Exchange cards were all uncorrected errors (Beckett even lists the C and D Exchange cards as...
Great cards, deceptikon! I especially like the look of that Exquisite Hornung. Here's what I have of this year's class (still need to pick up a Bill Parcells and a Dave Robinson).
The Pro Football Hall of Fame is enshrining its 50th class today. I know there are a few collectors of HOF rookie cards and autographs around here, so let's show them off to celebrate. I'll start with the cards I have from the Charter Class of 1963.
Sad to see this morning that Deacon Jones has passed away. He was a great man, a great player, and a great ambassador for the game. Here's a collection that I have been working on for a few years.
Thanks for the comments, guys!
I would love a licensed dual auto of Brunell/Smith or triple auto of Brunell/Taylor/Smith, but none exist so far. I even thought about having Leaf make a custom cut of Brunell/Smith, but I can't find a Jimmy Smith signature that would fit on a card and isn't...
I am probably the only person in the world who cared, but Panini included six cards of Jimmy Smith in their Certified release this year -- his first new cards since 2006. I am very pleased to have found them all before the end of the year (got the Mirror Blue in the mail today), especially...
I love that 24-Karat Gold Frank Sanders and that Quantum Infinity Cris Carter. Amazing inserts indeed!
I'm getting close to a Platinum Medallion run for Jimmy -- just need the 2006 now:
I am not the first to compare the two, and I won't be the last to notice that Raines was a more dangerous and probably more valuable player, especially at his peak. Ignorance is not knowing that a walk is just as good as a single, or that a walk plus a stolen base is even better. To be clear...
I think the real shame is that Tony Gwynn was elected on the first ballot, but Tim Raines might not make it in at all. Raines had only 87 more plate appearances than Gwynn, but he reached base 22 more times, hit 35 more home runs, scored 188 more runs, and stole 489 more bases while being...
A Finest sold on June 10 for $11.49 ... http://www.ebay.com/itm/350571206017
That's not as much as I would have thought, but still a nice profit on a 0.10 investment.
I was lucky to find it actually. The seller listed a lot of three 1/1's and didn't even have "Jimmy Smith" in the title. I was searching "Masterpiece 1/1" just for fun when I noticed it in the scan.
I don't know if anyone is going after Ripken cameos, but I thought this was cool: 1998 Donruss Carlos Delgado with Ripken's face on the t-shirt of the guy in the stands.

It's the 1995 Upper Deck Predictor Award Winners Exchange #H10 redeemed winner. It's probably not super rare, but the only way to get the MVP Exchange cards was to send in the Long Shot Wild Card, because neither of the MVP winners from 1995 (Vaughn, Larkin) had their own card in the Predictor...
