Gahhh. Don't know whether to be peeved or just giggle.
The truth is, there is very little overlap between sportsy cardsy people and artsy fartsy people.
Any educated graphic designer would sneer at 95% of modern cards. They're like a visual version of bad phone-call hold music.
At this point...
Best deal in sports. You can get 20% coupon by subscribing to Baseball Prospectus which is normally $40 annually but is $10 right now if you sign up for Draft Kings (convoluted, I know, but worth the savings). I don't even know or care what Draft Kings is but BP for a year for $10 is a great...
What a surprising story... all the baseball card dealers I know are such well-adjusted, socially apt, pleasant people to be around!
(not.)
Sorry to hear this happened, I totally remember being a shy 9 yr old at a show and my folks having to encourage me to talk to dealers (back in the late 80s...
I don't doubt that there are some dealers that would operate that way... I'm just saying that's on them. If you want to make money, bring what the customers want to buy. If the buyers at this show are spending $50 on quarter cards instead of $5K on T206 slabs, then adjust.

Good info! Cheers again on such a great mag... even as a kid I could appreciate the humor and quality of writing (Beckett always seemed remedial by comparison).
I have a pretty complete collection of all these cards from '87 or so on, if anybody needs any.
Very impressive, esp the immortal sigs.
What year / set are the ones with the two big photos? (Smoltz, Sandberg, Thome, etc)? I like the idea of sweet spot cards but never collected them bc I didn't like the idea of a card with only 1 tiny photo. I could totally get into the set with the big...
Totally want to order some shirts but getting broken image links for pretty much everything. Tried different browsers on and on different days, still happening. Anyone else getting this? Any workarounds?
Logomen (logomans?) are more susceptible to hobby-wide suspicion of inauthentic items, so they are decreasing roughly proportional to the decrease in jumbo / prime patches.
Totally agree that race is a factor. It's not the only factor of course, but it's in there. You see it most in the vintage market (Mantle as an iconic, popular player despite sharing NYC with the superior Mays, and the minority players that sell best are the ones that are regarded as...
