Not sure what your point is. A low-numbered, highly-sought-after Jeter card was auctioned off for $157. What's so insane? It's Jeter, not AJ Hinch.

Methinks someone is bothered that his tried and true middle-school bidding technique of six sequential bids pushing the bidding from $20.00 to $48.00 in eighteen seconds, followed by a $15.00 jump to $63.00 the next day, was not successful.

That $63.00 bid was then beaten by nine different bidders. This also shattered his oft mentioned theory (stated as fact) that the high bids for diffractors were solely the result of my bidding and that of a bidder he misidentifies as "the Colorado guy". I did not bid on this card at all. I have my own copy of that Jeter diffractor. Congrats to the high bidder (whom I won't identify for the stalker) on getting a very nice card.

Looking for a McGwire, Jeter, or Ripken 1998 Tek diffractor but don't want to pay $150.00?

I'm willing to trade any of my extra 1998 Tek diffractors listed below for any of the 1998 Tek diffractor patterns I don't have. (I have 3374 different patterns). As always, I'm willing to trade in your favor for new ones I need. Please send me a list of 1998 Tek diffractors that you have and might be willing to trade, and what you are looking for. E-mail to [email protected] is easier for me than PM, but I do check the PMs. NOT looking to sell any of these diffractors right now, but I am willing to accept what would be a duplicate to me to even out a trade.

I've also always found that "outing" or "highlighting" an auction a few hours before it ends is a shameless effort to get more eyes on the auction in hopes to drive up the price. Really tacky move. No need to do that.

Got my 10th different Buhner

attachment.php

Needed this for my set - overpaid a bit because of the cool pattern and I can see the light at the end of the tunnel for this project

attachment.php

And this guy just haaaad to rub it in :p

attachment.php

I think back when I started this thread that I really did get a handful of Diffractors, including Buhner, for under $5 each via ebay auctions. That was the end of the glory days. Really it was just four years ago but seems like an eternity now with the price explosion.

Nice Hidalgo Diffractor pattern # 27. Especially for $ 2.00.. Well done.. Now I know there are 4 of them as I have one and that RR guy has 2 of pattern # 27 from a list he sent me.

Congrats on the 10th Buhner as well. I have four Buhner diffractors (patterns 42,45,64,86 but no dupes) in 90 card completed (1) and partial (3) sets I have going that I make an occasional dent of one in if I find one cheap.

Ha - I should have been more clear. I overpaid for both but it's funny to see the pricing on the old price tag.

So 98 teks from new guy came in mail today as well as 5 cards I picked to help Mark T who is around 100 short of his 8100 card Master set. Great condition so I knocked four off my condition upgrade list as well as 7 or 8 pattern # 1s and several Same Card # pattern # 1998 TEKs

LMK if anyone has mint versions of these below available for trade or sale
No scratches, water mark, black dots or peeling of silver oval on back (that has card#/pattern#)

I recently started a separate 90 card Bagwell set (I live in Houston) so if anyone is trading Bagwells I have a long way to go but will trade (trade 98 TEk for 98 TEK only) for Bagwells and whatever ese is on want list below. I got in Thome Tek pattern #83 yesterday from a COMC Ebay auction. The shipping was a little high but the card is very nice and clean. Only 9 more to go! They are:

4, 16, 17, 22, 24, 34, 52, 63, and 90. Thanks for looking!

1998 Teks (base cards) for sale. Cards number 1 through 35 plus a Cal Ripken complete set listed with prices.

Please send orders and questions via e-mail to [email protected].

Quality: All cards have been kept in UltraPro, acid-free, soft sleeves since I got them. None have after-manufacture damage. Some cards have printing blemishes: refractor lines, light water spotting, ink spotting, light printing of patterns, blurring of pattern number, chipping of the silver oval, shadowing, etc. This goes with the territory. I rarely see a true mint quality '98 Tek -- even those slabbed by the services. A less-than-perfect card is better then a hole in your collection. Keep it until you can upgrade it. I have multiple copies of many patterns. I'll pick the nicest looking one for you. Just remember that for many patterns the same printing error often repeats. So, cards are sold 'as is': no returns or refunds.

Postage/shipping: No PWEs, no SASEs. All cards mailed in padded envelopes or boxes. 1 to 6 cards, $2.75 postage. 7-12 cards: $3.00. 13-20 cards $5.00 with tracking. 21-50 cards: $6.50 with tracking. For 1 to 50 cards, add $1.00 for insurance if you want it. Over $250.00 in card value, free shipping with tracking and insurance. Out of US: actual postage.

Payment via PayPal to user ID [email protected].

Would like to buy these below. While the ones in n my Master set are in ok shape hopefully a few of these non pat# 1 type are in better condition than mine. I did find a couple this week that are in better shape as my Master set is pretty much flawless so there are about 15 more to track down

The bottom lists below are on MTs Want list . I am not buying them but will contact him through facebook (assuming you respond to this message to at [email protected]) as I lost his email address and will contact him and give him your [email protected] and see if he wants to buy them.

I do not want to continue this silly stuff with you on FCB. I think you erroneously think I am trying to drive the prices up on ebay on diffractors. I am not.. I am only bidding on ones I dont have for diffractor sets # 2 and 3 but when I reach point where I know I am not going to win and just drop out. I caught up in bidding a couple time on a Ripken and a Jeter bidding way more than I wanted to but got blown out by $75 to 100 anyway… As Ive said before I think I have around 110-120 diffractors oddy enough out of the approximate only 300 in my personal collection that I dont see you as having from a year old want list I have of yours. Still no idea how many cards there are of each specific card/pattern of the diffractors

Once I finish (if ever) those two diffractor sets (14 and 35 cards to go respectively) for three total diffractor sets I will probably make whatever is not in set # 1,2,3 that you dont have available to you but you still have a long long way to go for all 8010. Still amazing you have accumulated so many so kudos to you. I just don’t have the money or desire to spend the time chasing down the diffractors.

I dont know if you lost my email several months back or if you ever found you final McGwire Pre-Production 89 card but I offered it you for a Ripken Diffractor (I can use for Diffractor set # 2) but never heard back

My Want to Buy list

I think back when I started this thread that I really did get a handful of Diffractors, including Buhner, for under $5 each via ebay auctions. That was the end of the glory days. Really it was just four years ago but seems like an eternity now with the price explosion.

Congrats on the 10th different Buhner diffractor. Awesome card. It reminds me of a beautiful Church stained glass window.

That pattern# 88 Buhner looks good as diffractor.

My four Buhner diffractor pattern #s are 42,45,64,86

When I finish diffractor sets 2 and 3 diffractor (14 and 35 cards to go) I will make the fourth Buhner available for sale

Not sure what your point is. A low-numbered, highly-sought-after Jeter card was auctioned off for $157. What's so insane? It's Jeter, not AJ Hinch.

The only diffractors I notice are Belles, and the last 4 I've seen on eBay have gone for 40, 40 (BINs) and ~ 50, 50 (one auction, one BIN). Considering how much more Jeter cards sell for, $157 doesn't seem all that bad.

It was worth $157 to someone... I'd gladly overpay for Juan Gonzalez diffractors that I need....
