So if the Cardinals can't reach a contract extension, do they dare trade Adam Wainwright???

I wouldn't until they determine whether they are in playoff contention at mid-season. They probably will be, so I doubt he gets moved.

I think he stays. Right now his value is low based upon his '12 numbers. With that said I think that the Cards get it done before Pitchers/Catchers report.

Wainwright, Cards talking long-term deal: Cardinals pitcher Adam Wainwright made a successful return from Tommy John surgery this season as he went 14-13 with a 3.94 ERA in his 32 starts. Entering the last season on his current deal, the right-hander told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch Monday that he and the club have talked about a long-term extension. “In brief talks with (Cardinals executives) they feel real good about me coming back for a long time, and I want to make that happen,” Wainwright said. “I don’t see any reason why we shouldn’t make that happen. ... It’s not like I have one foot out the door (to free agency). If I’m being honest, they have to show they respect what I’ve done and what I will do. And they have. They have. So I don’t think it will be a problem.”

Best thing that could've happened financially for the Cardinals was Wainwright's TJ surgery. I think they can now resign a (still) really good pitcher for 4-5 more years much cheaper than they would've with no TJ surgery.

I had a dream they traded him in a 7 player 3 team deal that included the Marlins and Toronto. Cardinals got Stanton, Toronto got morrison and there were some other players with like blurry faces lol Joe Kelly was also in the trade. Weird dream.

I have dreams like those all the time! They're usually bad. One was Craig, Jay, Motte, and Freese to Yankees for Derek Jeter and Mariano Rivera. About a year ago I had a nightmare that the Cardinals traded Zack Cox(I had built up a pretty good PC of him). That turned out to be true.

Still have them. Think I have over 150 2010 Bowman Draft Base Cards of Cox.

I still have his Bowman Platinum Canary.Even if he never does anything I'll probably keep it just because it's a sharp looking card.It's a good thing his Bowman Chrome Draft Superfractor autograph wasn't auctioned right after the product was released, there's no telling what I would have bid on it.At that time I had money to burn.Would suck to still have that card now after the trade.
