To celebrate the start of a new season, here's a contest open to all. The top score takes home a TBA prize.
The game is extremely easy to play, but each contestant must be willing to score their own entry. Any questions, just ask.
The deadline is 6pm Eastern on Sunday March 31st.
HOW TO ENTER
I made a random 8x8 grid. Those 64 numbers represent 34 top batters and all 30 Opening Day starting pitchers.
To enter, select a number from 1-64. Copy/paste the signup list with your name next to that number.
Once a number is selected, it is unavailable to everyone else.
After the deadline has passed, I will reveal the player grid.
Not only will you earn/lose points based on your player, but also each player directly adjacent to him on the grid (above/below/left/right). No diagonals. This means you will have between 3-5 players.
Example:
You choose #34. Based on that position in the grid, you also have players #33 (above), #26 (left), #42 (right), and #35 (below). Remember, players can earn or lose points, so more is not always better!
1 9 17 25 33 41 49 57
2 10 18 26 34 42 50 58
3 11 19 27 35 43 51 59
4 12 20 28 36 44 52 60
5 13 21 29 37 45 53 61
6 14 22 30 38 46 54 62
7 15 23 31 39 47 55 63
8 16 24 32 40 48 56 64
SCORING
Only the player's Opening Day game is used. Scoring is as follows:
Batters
Outs: -25 points
Walks: 10 points
Hits: 20 points
RBIs: 25 points
Runs: 30 points
Home Runs: 50 points
Starting Pitchers
Innings (rounded up to the nearest whole number): 10 points
Strikeouts: 10 points
Walks allowed: -3 points
Hits allowed: -5 points
Win: 100 points
Loss: -50 points
That's all there is to it. Good luck!
