Back in my Gretzky player-collecting days I encountered the same issues finding the Gold CTG's. I think the route of the problem relates to the low-end nature of the CC brand & the fact that most of the people purchasing the product were children. Serious collectors & investor types avoided CC like the plague. So very few cards wound up in the hands of those that would funnel the rare golds into the market, hence creating an issue where they appear to those seeking them as being scarcer than they truly are. A lot of them are buried in boxes, out of sight & out of mind.

I bought a lot of cc back in the day. Greatest bang for the buck. Some of the hardest cards to find in the 90's are from Collectors Choice.
