I remember some story about a guy who wore an ugly green shirt under his uni for every card shoot... I don't really remember the whole story tho...

And as I was trying to look it up and failing... I found another gem, from Dave Bennett on the back of the 1964 Phillies Rookie stars card View attachment 33781

Must be nice to forever be one year younger than you are!

I was always curious about the 90 Topps Thomas card, as there's a lot going on. It always looked to me like the other player was heavily modified. The yellow and blue stripes across the chest look airbrushed, and the face is obscured. Also, Frank is big but he makes the other guy look like a little kid, although the other guy looks like he might be bending down almost as far as Frank. And I guess they didn't have the rights to show the other guy's face. Then there are the uniforms. They can show an Auburn jersey but not Wossamatta U or whosever? Then there's the question of where Frank is playing. I assume he's at 1B but what sort of play would put him in that position tagging the guy basically between his legs? A weird pickoff play? If so, where is the photographer supposed to be? A throw from RF to catch the guy too far off the bag after a single? Is that the mound and 3B in the background or another field? Frank's expression is especially nonchalant if he's trying to make a quick play. I would love to see the original photo used for this card. Still buried in the Topps Vault I suppose.

Topps used the same photo for the Dodgers team card for six straight years from 1960-1965, picturing 1959 Dodgers team. Don Zimmer, who is pictured in the photo, didn't play with the Dodgers in 1960, and in fact played with four different teams (Cubs, Mets, Reds and Senators) during those years.

This is the case with pretty much all 60s team cards.

Dave Nicholson never appears on a Baltimore Orioles team card, because they reused the photo from 1959 several times.

However he appears on White Sox team cards two years after he was already gone.

According to Tommy Everidge his 2008 Bowman BPP card isn't him and has no idea who it was.

There was this 2000 Bowman card of Eric Byrnes

Kevin Ritz on the front, not Kevin on the back. I think he said it was Steve Reed.

Jesse Barfield also said he doesn't like this card, because it shows him as having four kids, but he only has three. LeRoy is Josh's middle name, but they put in an extra comma

1991 ultra was originally called "elite" until Donruss threatened to sue.

No actual cards were made but advertising sheets were with the name.

There's at least three different sheets out there. The one below (dealer sheet I think) and two others.

One of those were in a card dealer's magazine ad (elite showing on the card) and the other with "elite" scribbled out.

I think this is common knowledge, but pictured on this card is the late Greg Halman

Which I hope is not an intentional throwback to this card, picturing the late Ken Hubbs

I think one of the biggest errors and most interesting story is about another Topps card. The 2005 Bowman Chrome A-Rod Throwback Exclusives #94A-AR - Alex Rodriguez card. The odds to pull this card was an astonishing 1:614,088 packs.

What is the story?

Oh I guess the story is how Topps messed up a super good card that is super rare.

Then how Arod agreed to autograph the card but Topps refused to authenticate it and provide the required hologram stickers to make it authentic.

Then how maybe another card like this may exist but not 100% sure.

What is the story?

At least several of them were backdoored and some people like to pretend they are the holy grail when it was bought on ebay for around $10. They used to swear it was super rare until another copy was scanned and shown to them. Now they just pretend they might not have seen it. Arod never signed them therefore topps never released them.

Well I have a few error cards.I have a 2011 Yonder Alonso card with Eric Sogard's stats. A 2006 Mickey Mantle card that says his career high was 52 HRs.. A 2011 reprint of Ryan Howard's 2006 card. It says "Major League Pitching Record" above his stats. A 2011 Josh Hamilton AL MVP card. It incorrectly states his OBP at .359. I also have a 2013 Jason Kipnis Opening Day card that says he has 31 SBs ( he had 36) And lastly, a 1997 card of Jhensy Sandoval/Jason Conti that incorrectly states Sandovals AVG at 1.16, when it was actualy .116. All of those card were Topps.
Of course none of these cards have much value, but it's cool to look at all of topps fails.

Did all of these cards have corrected versions? Or are they uncorrected errors?

Here's a few....

Willie Mays appears on a 1974 Topps Card (postseason) but isn't named.

Panini used to make stickers and albums for topps.

When topps announced that they were going to produce a 1952 reprint set in the early 80s, collectors and dealers actually were afraid original 1952 cards would fall value!

I still have the magazine article offering the reprint set somewhere
