Hi all, about five years ago someone I don't know contacted me and offered a David Justice card for sale. They sent me a scan of the front and back and we worked out a deal. I had never seen the card before and was excited, but they stopped responding before the deal was made... I thought maybe they were stalling to ransom something out of me, but they just never got back. An exhaustive search over several years has revealed that there are several other cards in this set - Michael Jordan and Nolan Ryan come up the most, but there are others. I'm not sure if they were promos circulated at a show, inserts in a magazine, or something entirely different. Any help identifying this card will be appreciated. If you have one and are willing to part with it, I will trade in your favor and then some.

Yah, Broders-type cards, as Bob wrote.
But those are pretty fancy unlicensed cards, with the refracting prism borders. Nice looking cards.

There were a large variety of these with foils and prisms and such. Very commonly sold in the mid 90s for 50 cents to a dollar each and the sellers often had stacks of them. Not limited, not licensed, but they have found a niche with collectors, mainly player collectors who buy anything and everything.

I agree that some collectors do this. Personally, I don't. I just buy things here and there for items like this and that with Ripken's name or image (or both) on them. I don't know about anything and everything, lol!
