More home runs were hit in June than any month in MLB history. The 1,101 homers broke the old mark of 1,069 hit in 2000, the peak of the steroid era.

And this year's pace of 6,139 homers would smash the season record of 5,693, also set in 2000.

Hitters also broke the one-month record for leadoff home runs with 36.

There has been at least one player with a multi-homer game on all but one day in June, and the 28-day streak also set a record.

The Dodgers (53 HR) and Mets (50 HR) each reached the 50-homer plateau for the first time. It's also the first time ever that two National League teams hit 50 homers in the same month.

The A's set a record last week when three rookies, Matt Olson, Jaycob Brugman and Franklin Barreto, all hit their 1st career home runs in the same game.

And it's the first time in the modern era that two rookies, Aaron Judge and Cody Bellinger, are leading both leagues in home runs this late in the season.

I think it has a lot to do with analytics. Players are using that upper cut swing to get launch angle and teams also don't frown on strikeouts anymore. When most of us were growing up we were taught flat swing for solid line drives...not no mo
