i see nothing wrong with your idea , but i have one suggestion i'd make.....in addition to the 90's choice sets , i think i'd at least CONSIDER trying to work on maybe on or two (or perhaps one per sport) new sets as well just so that your kids would have projects involving current players that they either are already familiar with or likely would be seeing in action and becoming fans of as they grow into the hobby.....

I loved collector's choice in the '90s. I built the baseball sets every year from 1994-1998 from packs at Walmart.
The inserts like the stickers were great.
They're the perfect sets to build with your kids.

Good call. Currently stock piling a pack of current cards each time I hit target for them to break with me when they are old enough to actually follow actively.

I should have clarified my oldest isn't even 3. Yes I'm starting early. Yes I get a lot of grief (good natured) from my wife ha.

That said my oldest just about lost her mind when we pulled a Jake Arrieta mini (it's a little one daddy!!) out of Ginter and she also nabbed an Indians mascot auto out of opening day.

ahh, so you may need to gauge if your 3-year old is even interested when the time comes. I was assuming they were old enough and had already shown interest.

Exactly. Little test run with what Dad liked . That said - I watch enough baseball that I'm not sure they'll have much of a choice....

As others have mentioned, the project sounds fun, but it may tap into your nostalgia more than anything since for the kids these will be players they've never seen play.

Kids are thrilled to do things with their parents (at that age) and will most likely share the excitement, but a more current set may allow them to connect to the players by watching them now as well...
