I love the old fart day!

I was in my mom's ovary - not to be released and fertilized for another 7'ish years.

My mom and dad were both in college. That's why I joke this time of year with him that he's an old fart because he was in college when the major event happened and then add all the years since the event.. 54 years in 2017.

My major in-school event was Challenger Launch Disintegration. My major adult event was 9/11.

I remember the Challenger exploding and I have seen NYC burning with my own eyes in the aftermath of 9/11 but I wasn't born yet when JFK was killed.

I was in first grade at Harriet Beecher Stowe Elementary School in Chicago. All the teachers were in the hallways crying and sent us home.
It was very scary to me at the time. I did not grasp what was going on. We were not told why the school was closing. Back then there were no school counselors or anything like that. I was lucky I had two older sisters in the same school and we went home.

Please note: Card collecting is my hobby, not my life. I don't take it that serious and like to keep it fun.

This makes me feel old. I was in Viet Nam, hoping to get a shot at Ho Chi Minh. You talk about Ruth, the first time I met him I was an infant in my mother's arms. He kissed my forehead. I got an in person auto 3 years later. Then he kissed my mother. She said his breath was horrible. He died the following August. (by the way, both times in Atlanta at a barnstorming game.)
