I found that same signed Mariano book at Savers last year.
Mine was $3.00, not 50 cents, but still a great find.

I've also found signed autobiographies from Dave Winfield, Orel Hershiser, Terry Bradshaw, Tony Dorsett, Jim Bouton, Frank Shorter, and several others.. Some are personalized to someone, but most are just their name signed. Mariano is the only one with a sticker.

Always check the title pages of sports autobiographies at used book sales and thrift stores because you never know when you'll find a signature from a book signing.

I've been looking for one of those without the bookplate, seems like he never signed any of them directly.

But damn, for 50 cents?! Great find.
HOF auto collector - I'm up to 258 different in my collection (used to have a photobucket link here, but photobucket sucks)

Yeah, nice one! That's gotta be worth at least double what you paid. Maybe even triple

He did at least one public signing for the book, but he still signed that nameplate for some reason. (shows the autograph in the video at 3:43)
I don't know why he didn't sign the actual page.

I have 2 different versions of the nameplate that he signed but I can't remember ever seeing one signed on the actual book. I have however seen a few dimwits trying to sell the facsimile autograph printed in the book as genuine.
