Id never pay more than a few bucks for any box of a really glossy set more than a few years old.
Especially 90s stuff like Ultra, Stadium Club and even base Topps. Its almost all stuck together now.
I just watched a video yesterday of a guy looking through a stack of 2003 Topps and every card was stuck and there was paper loss when he pulled them apart.

And if any of you have factory sets more than a decade old in your closet, might as well leave them sealed. The cards are probably stuck together by now.

I wish there was a way to figure out if this is a shady dealer trying to hook a sucker or just a noob who doesn't know better.

I understand you can look thru feedback and get a sense, but still tough to know for sure.

IF I knew it was a shadester, I'd send them a "nice" message questioing their worthiness as a human...

I know this is off-topic but after looking at the e-bay link for the 1993 SP box, I noticed at the bottom of the screen a 1990 Fleer Jose Uribe priced at over half a million dollars. I looked further into it...this has got to be the same jackhole under different screen names trying to shill a worthless card right?

    jojocircus - Jose Uribe $525,000

    https://www.ebay.com/itm/1990-FLEER-....c100009.m1982

    sizerr22_4 - Jose Uribe $20,000

    https://www.ebay.com/itm/1990-FLEER-....c100009.m1982

    jessecryan - Jose Uribe $260,000

    https://www.ebay.com/itm/Jose-Uribe-....c100009.m1982

    jessecryan - Jose Uribe $220,000

    https://www.ebay.com/itm/Jose-Uribe-....c100009.m1982

    jessecryan - Jose Uribe $160,000

    https://www.ebay.com/itm/Jose-Uribe-....c100009.m1982

    jessecryan Jose Uribe $125,000

    https://www.ebay.com/itm/Jose-Uribe-...oAAOSwN~ZbjhWk

    lolitahaze7 $24,000

This guy (nvalorie) will even accept rolex's in exchange if you can't pony up the $15k BIN

    https://www.ebay.com/itm/1990-FLEER-...gAAOSwcj9alGdg

This guy (vinylguruat12) claims only 2,500 exist in the entire world but at least it's reasonably priced at $5k.

    https://www.ebay.com/itm/1990-Fleer-....c100009.m1982

There are plenty of others priced at over a 100 grand under different screen names too. This has got to be a troll attempt right? Looking at sold listings it appears he's been doing this for awhile. You can tell it's the same guy based on the words used in his title descriptions. "The rarest card in the world that everybody owns, infamous ebay card, etc."
Look, I'm gonna be honest with you. I really need a job. And I will take any position, as long as it doesn't involve having sex with old ladies for money or bear traps. Those are my two bugaboos. While mulling over my resume feel free to check out my baseball card collection, it's small and simple, kinda like me - >>>>> https://s822.photobucket.com/user/JDf...ds%20n%20stuff

The last time I had this problem was with a 2001 Topps set, just trying to put it in order. What a disaster. 2002 and 2003 were awful too. Not sure, but is still an issue even with more recent sets?

Is this really being shady? I mean, the '93 Jeter SP card is well sought after, right? He's the owner of the box. He's not breaking any rules. He can list it for a $1,000,000 if he wants. Nobody has to buy it.

I bought a box of 1993 UD SP in the latter part of '93 for $50. It did not have a Derek Jeter but had 2 Johnny Damon and a Carlos Delgado. Too risky to buy an unopened box today for the current asking prices.

    I didn't buy a box, but I know I bought a few packs back in 1993 - got a Delgado and I could SWEAR a Jeter...but I can't find it. I've looked and looked; hope I didn't trade it off.

That and the fact all the cards will be stuck together.

I'm glad I put all my sets in Ultra Pro pages in binders. I bet if they were still packed tightly in boxes they'd be stuck together now. They don't stick at all in pages.

Maybe someday '90s and '00s sets in pages will be worth a fortune since the vast majority of them will be ruined kept in boxes, especially tightly-packed factory sets.

Imagine all factory sets someday being worthless because of the sticking and bricking, while the now "rare" base sets like 2003 Topps kept in binders are valuable.

I just looked at my 2005 Topps factory set earlier, and the cards even stick a little bit together. I've separated this one before and put them in order. At least the junk era 80s cards and the Heritage sets don't have this problem
