Love reading old baseball card magazines and came upon a short story how the 90s short lived company called "Wild Card" came to be.

In case you don't know, Wild Card was known for its randomly inserted Stripe cards (like 5, 50, 100, 1000).

If you got, say, a 100 stripe card, you could redeem it for 100 base cards of that player.

Before it came to be, One of the founders dropped a box of hundreds of the same Mattingly cards and thought that it would be so much better having one Card "worth" the same as the box he just dropped.

That lead to the stripes idea and the company was born.

Too bad several years later they lost their football license after defiantly producing cards after the license was cancelled.

I always thought Wild Card was a cool idea, but I ached vicariously for the logistics of it all.

Wasn't there some guy who opened hundreds of cases trying to build a master set?
