Best Van Halen soundalike from the eighties was "Summertime Girls" by Y&T (formerly Yesterday & Today).

Long time New England blues rock bar band J. Geils Band had a couple of unlikely hits in the early eighties thanks to landing in MTV's heavy rotation. Like many bands, success went to their heads, so lead singer (and former DJ) Peter Wolf left the bad to churn out a relatively forgettable single album (#genesimmons) that seemed to unintentionally parody the band, the blues rock sound, and MTV's heavy rotation. Within a couple of years, mainstream blues rock was essentially dead as hair metal, polished soul, dance, and modern rock completed the job that new wave had started, pushing most blues rock bands back into local bars, clubs, and occasional big shows at county and state fairs.

So here it is, from 1987, the end of blues rock, Peter Wolf's "Come As You Are"...

Technically an eighties song, since it was released in 1980, Gamma's "Voyager" sounds a lot more like mid-seventies stoner fare from Robin Trower. In fact, Gamma singer Davey Pattison would go on to sing on several Trower albums in the eighties. The heavy guitar in the background was played by Ronnie Montrose, one of the legendary shredders of the seventies.

As a student and future writer, I like 80's music! It is a great tool for me to focus on bestessays review and others revies writing. My favorite 80's band so far is A-ha and favorite hit is Take on Me.
