And this means he doesn't have to begin the year in the minors now. If only the Jays would ink Vlad to an extension like this.

Hector Gomez of Deportivo Z 101 in the Dominican Republic reports that the White Sox are in agreement on an eight-year extension with top outfield prospect Eloy Jimenez.
ESPN's Jeff Passan is hearing something similar, though he adds that only the first six years of the deal will be guaranteed. There are club options for years seven and eight. The total guaranteed money will be $43 million, per Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic. Jimenez has yet to appear in a game at the major league level, but he ranks as one of the top prospects in the sport and locking him up with some cost certainty could very well encourage the White Sox to promote him to the major league roster more quickly than they would have otherwise. He could even possibly be their starting right fielder on Opening Day. Jimenez, 22, batted .337/.384/.577 with 22 home runs and 75 RBI over 108 games last year between Double-A Birmingham and Triple-A Charlotte. He also lit it up in the Dominican Winter League this past offseason.

The Riverlands.
It's a big risk for sure, but if he goes all Miguel Cabrera on us, the White Sox will look like proverbial geniuses. Kudos to a player taking the guarantee up front. Milb guys are paid like crap, so you can't blame Eloy here! Good stuff all around
