    Topps Total is back!

and Topps screwed the pooch on it (if you are a collector, IMHO). Maybe this needs to go to the worst card manufacturer ideas thread.

10-card pack for $10 - 900 card set, low numbered parallel chances, no relics or autos, 100 card wave released every 3 weeks.

As a collector - nope. I am not spending at least $900 (and maybe more like $1800 due to poor collation) to make the set as much as I love Topps Total.

$40 for 36 packs/10 cards per pack and I'm there! With no relics or autos or other inserts and not many parallels (since they would be low numbered), $40 for 360 cards in a box should be doable with great margins, IMHO.

As a manufacturer, I can see why Topps wants to bring back Topps Total this way - payday loan-like margins on the product.

Yep, that sounds pretty stupid. I liked the set back in the day to get those obscure players, but I on ly bought the boxed team sets.

This sums up my feelings about it. If they want to bring back Total then OK. Whatevs. But for fukksake don't make it expensive.

I think your news is in error. Topps Total was an entry-level, collector brand with no bells and whistles, meant for real fans with its huge checklist that could cover practically every player who appeared in a given season. This new product must be called "Topps Totally Screwing You."

I can see myself chasing a set, though. Damn collectoritis is acting up again.
Looking for 2011 Topps Marquee Museum autographs, rare Frank Thomases, and any Grady Sizemores I don't have

I think you dropped some trivial on me! I only recall the box product (I believe was 36 packs/10 cards per pack and other than the first release, it was on no-frills card stock that I like to think of as recycled paper-like card stock).

I didn't know they released team blister pack sets of Topps Total.

I don't think Topps did these. I was a Total junkie back in the day and don't recall ever seeing them this way.

Someone may have done this aftermarket (Excel, Fairfield or ANCO maybe) but I don't think Topps released them that way.
Finish your sets! Check my sportlots inventory. 350,000 cards listed!
Shipping capped at $3.00 for any order in the United States
I'm letting my Football and Hockey collections go - I've lowered prices almost all of my football and hockey cards on sportlots. Mostly inserts, SPs and premium cards - take a look!

Card number and then right below has the team abbreviation and number in the set. Been so long though I donít remember if the base set had that as well.

It appears that year yes, cards were numbered out of the pack that way. I donít think these were made for every team. If they were I donít think Iíve ever seen a Brewers set and I would think I would have but could be wrong

I didn't buy them new, but many years later, so not sure how they were originally issued. I would have to dig, but I feel like I have at least 1 regular and maybe 1 silver parallel set? I don't recall, but one box I know I have for sure was like this:
