I looked at the gif that someone posted and I would have called it a ball as well.. but I guess the technology twits want a perfect game..
Some umpires will call a ball a strike and a strike a ball depending on if the catchers glove is moving.. If the catchers glove doesn't move, then the umpire knows that is where the pitcher was actually targeting.
