Greetings, its the last Night Crew of the year... and the decade! So instead of a yearly review its time for a decade review.

Hitter of the decade?

Pitcher of the decade?

Team of the decade?

Baseball card producer of the decade?

Best set of the decade?

FCB poster of the decade?

Best FCB thread of the decade?

Ooh. Coming strong with the December NC thread. Here's my amateur hour answers:

Hitter = Trout
Pitcher = Verlander. Regular season says Kershaw but postseason counts.
Team = Giants
Card producer = I'll pass
Best set = 2014 Tek baby!
FCB poster = togaman

Hitter= Trout. nobody is even close.

Pitcher= Verlander/Kershaw. These guys can share it, if I can share their wives. ;) Verlander also had some postseason stinkers this decade.

Team= Giants. Its been a while but they were awesome early on.

Card Producer= No joke, it was easily Tanner. mouschi

Best Set... idk yet.

FCB Poster= anyone who stirs the pot, I will say Gilf Slayer Super Mario

Best Thread= I liked the AIDS one and the Jake Peavy... also Sting Bat.

I added one more question that I forgot earlier.

...and I know what you're thinking. The answer is Yes, I did consider putting Fred2 Porcelain Porcello as pitcher of decade.

Porcello was close, he needed 1 more epic moment to seal the deal... perhaps killing a seagull like Randy Johnson, or bunting a triple like Kyle Seager.

Oh well, he is still young enough to be the best pitcher next decade. ;)

I haven't slept much lately, I'd like to have crafted more creative answers.
Hitter is trout, I'll also add he's been the best baseball player by far.
Pitcher, I'd like to go in a different direction but I'd say Verlander.
Team - love to say my Sox but they had as many crap seasons as the Giants and won one less ring.
Card producer...eh
Best set - the Tek revival was amazing, I think I like the 2016 version the most.
Fcb poster - lots of goodness to choose from, I'm going cardcop for the mountains of stories no one asked for that are semirelated to the original post that show how he time and time again try to save the integrity of the hobby we all share.
Honorable mention for poster - jaypers for the minor league update, love all the info in one spot.

Lol yeah, Cardcop fights for our honor and valor on a daily basis. ;)

Do you get a break from the rat-race now?

And speaking of Tek - they changed the set this year. Is anyone irritated by this but me? There are no patterns to chase, just the same pattern with different colored parallels like every other damn set. And those colored parallels are just that - green, blue, white, yada yada. Not even tidals or orbits or galactic sparklies. I mean, yes, it's easier to chase now, but that was the ONE thing that made Tek unique (well two if you count the acetate), and they got rid of it.

How can you say Postseason counts and give it to Verlander? He holds the record for most WS starts without a win.

Kershaw has had some great regular Playoffs games (along with some poor ones), and blows Verlander out fo the water in the regular season.

This is how:

Kershaw in 2010's
NLDS 5-4 4.11
NLCS 3-4 3.89
WS 1-2 5.40
Total 9-10 4.28

Verlander in 2010's
ALDS 8-1 2.33
ALCS 5-4 2.87
WS 0-4 5.67
Total 13-9 3.10

Verlander hasn't been Curt Schilling, but he has been substantially better than Kershaw in the postseason and was 2017 ALCS MVP.

Hopefully one day Kershaw can fix his postseason issues... so I can sell his RC auto SPx for more than tree fiddy.

Well, I got it. Ending price was a bit higher than I thought it would be, but I've never seen one before, so I just went for it. I think I was going against a set builder, not another Alomar collector. That set is pretty awesome. Just gorgeous cards.
