Yeah I wasn't expecting someone to at Manfred that hard but I think it will continue, especially if he tries to completely get rid of MiLB.

Recently I have thought up a conspiracy theory of who Rob Manfred really is.... he looks like someone we all know, only grown up. I shall reveal when the time is right. :)

Maybe these are good changes. I'd say probably, yeah. But whatevs, the real problems that afflict baseball will continue to persist and grow.

It's like the Rockies signing yet another journeyman infielder or overrated aging free agent reliever. Maybe that player adds a bit of value as compared to the incumbent journeyman infielder, or overrated aging free agent reliever, but the core structural problems with the franchise remain. I'm looking at you, Charlie and Dick Monfort, and Jeff Bridich.

I like the rule changes, get rid of the one guy relief pitcher, if I'm watching on TV I don't mind as much but if you are actually at the ball park a specialist coming in blows. When there is no game play at the park that is when every idiot around you tries to share their opinion, ain't nobody got time for that!

When I would go to games it would take a few hours to get there, and then the game would be 3 hours long... so maybe 8 hours total travel. I'd honestly rather have a good strategical game and tack on 10 mins than taking away all these options. Managers can't get the matchups they want anymore, plus there's no hit and run/double steal smallball stuff so its a bit bland.

I can see if someone lives super close to the park how they could want to shave time off it perhaps.

I bet Banjar is very sad that the Rockies best ever pitcher has his role removed from the game.

Ah wait, wrong guy.

Hmm, that doesn't seem right either.

Wanna guess who the all-time Rockies pitching leader is for career WAR?

Ubaldo Jimenez, clocking in at a whopping 18.9. And that's after 27 full seasons of Rockies baseball! We've had some pretty good hitters though. Kinda like the Yankees. Anyone can name the Mt. Rushmore of Yankee hitters, but pitchers? Uhm...well...there's Whitey Ford. Uh, that one Ron Guidry year. And Pettitte. And Mussina for a while. And after that? There's a reason their all time record for career pitching WAR is held by a reliever :).

Well, between Mike Myers and Adam Ottavino we are halfway to a Mount Rushmore of Rockies pitchers. Something tells me the last 2 spots are going to be brutal to figure out.

Yeah I remember the year Ubaldo was on a Pedro Martinez pace for a long time before cooling off in the second half, some of the best pitching I can recall.
Denny Neagle for the 4th spot on Mt Rushmore simply because I like The Room.

I have Whitey Ford auto from 2006 Fleer, a very nice pull! :) I see on Baseball Reference they have Fords WAR a touch higher than Riveras, and it would be a good 10 points better if he didn't have 2 year military. (Although the sheer dominance of Mariano is unparalleled)

Ah...yes, the nod does go to Whitey. 56.9 to 56.2. That's a nice card to have, he was a very good pitcher.

Although that trivia might be correct, since pitchers hit in those days so if he was a bad batsmen even for his positions standards it would be rolled into the WAR.

The Astros saga just keeps getting better and better, with one of the worst public apologies you can do. It reminds me of the Oil Spill Guy (tm?) who South Park parodied so well....

Why do people call a lot of people with a name Richard, Dick ?

It's got to be one of those old times nicknames that for some reason made sense when it started.
In my mind it started with one guy named richard that was simply a huge dick to everyone and they just started calling him dick and somehow it caught on from there.

That makes sense.

I have an uncle Richard. He was one of the nicest people you could ever meet. I knew another Richard, who went by Dick. And he was a dick.
