Looks fake though? I have a PSA 6 and my O's logo is clear orange while this is almost red. Disappointing to see PSA slabbing fakes, what's the collector consensus opinion here?
The card appears to be fake to me as well. According to what I have read from ripkenintheminors, the top white line should have a wrinkle in it. It should not be a perfect straight line. This one appears to have this perfect line.
Looks off to me as well. The "O", the white top border, plus the letters font on his name and position. I actually posted about it on the PSA forums before I posted over here. Had a side by side shot on there with a legit one and they are definitely off.

Not a good situation about the Ripken WBTV. It appears a TCMA was graded at the same time. Would be bad news if counterfeit WBTV AND TCMA cards found their way in PSA holders. The only good news is that PSA will buy back counterfeits in their slabs as long as the slab has not been tampered with.

Well, if you can get ahold of the winner (by looking through the seller's feedback page within the next couple days for his ID), you can message him and explain what's going on.

Yeah, I thought a real PSA8 was around $2k+, so a fake one at $1.6k seems like the smart people stayed out of it. Such a shame though.

Big thanks to RITM for the lengthy write-ups about spotting fakes. As a WBTV owner, I certainly appreciate more information getting into the hands of collectors.

Thanks so much for the kind words. I just wish the site was fully functioning.

How much do you think an Orange Border would sell for in an auction environment? Hasn't been one for public sale since 2006.

Great question. I was told that a copy was for sale in Baltimore when they last hosted the National. It had a $10,000 price tag on it and I was told it went unsold. I would guess a copy would bring at least $4,000 and would not be surprised to see it pass $5,000. PSA has slabbed 10 copies of the card. The thing to take in consideration is that 5 of the 10 came from the same person in 2006. Without that incredible find in 2006 we are looking at 5 slabbed copies from PSA to this point.

To put all of this in perspective there are more T206 Wagners known to exist than the Police Ripken.

Another Milestone on my "Get Every Beckett Recognize Ripken Item from the 1980's" Project. Two of these arrived today in the mail to join their brother. Nice to hack away at my checklist.

Worked on the website this afternoon. Fixed many of the broken image links. Feel free to LMK if any of the images do not work. Especially wanted to get the "Spotting Counterfeits" page back up.
