Nothing special to the set....There are 3 listed on ebay right now with a buy it know for under 5 bucks. Who knows why this went so high
Issued in two different types of three-card packs, (a clear cello and a white cello with bilingual printing) this 30-card standard-size set was issued by MSA (Michael Schechter Associates) for Diet Pepsi in Canada. The packs were given away free with the purchase of Diet Pepsi or Diet Caffeine Free Pepsi. As is typical of MSA sets, the team logos have been airbrushed out. A red and blue trim poster which measures approximately 11" by 14" was also issued. A little mini picture of each player is on the poster
Gotcha - appreciate the insight.
Anyone else watching this Griffey Crusade Red auction? I was really excited to see what this thing would do in an auction, but it seems sort of tampered with now.

Noticed those two retracted/cancelled bids as well. Of course, I'm interested to see a) what it ends at and b) if the buyer actually pays.
I remember reading in this thread about how one multiple years back ended at $2,500+ and that got jaws to drop - this one...phew
Some people only shop by seller and apparently don't know how to use search feature lol. Some things can't be explained. You just gotta hope your in the right place at the right time. Before Vizquel and Gallaraga that was me with Thome. Had a guy buying $2 cards for $200
Someone said one of the retracted bidders has like 50 retractions. Apparently they don't know the cards value because they could have just kept the bids ANd not make it a tampered auction as it will hit around 10k
If anyone is bidding on this card, it is a fake. I own the real one. Someone took the card from an uncut sheet and stamped it. In addition, Probstein has been selling a lot of fakes from the 1998 MP set over the years. They all seem to use SGC.

I am also working on a project with the lead designer and manufacture at Fleer from 1989-2001 to help identify fakes. We have spent a lot of time on the MP cards in particular since so much fraud takes place in the three major sports. Take a look at the Jeter Protstein has listed and how quality the back stamping is (I am being sarcastic). I have spent a lot of time buying up fakes. In addition, Probstein has sold a lot of fakes in the past, particularly of this set. Same ones keep popping up.
