So far, 7/200 for the M101-5 set and 5/200 for the M101-4 set. I have Chief Bender's M101-4 incoming, which will put me at 6. There is a large amount of cards on eBay right now, so I hope to pick up a few more.Originally Posted by scotty21690
As a side project for the set, I am trying to acquire one copy of each back advertisement. I currently have four unique types (blank-back, Herpolsheimer, Weil Baking, and Famous & Barr.) I'm watching one of the scarcer backs (one of my favorites,) so I would like to acquire it.
Cool stuff everybody!
I didn't get anything to post in this thread, but it's fun to look at![]()
Got this one yesterday.

These two 1951 Red Backs came while I was at the beach. The Fain is NM and the Holmes is EX (it is the 52A Boston variation). I needed the variation to complete the set and the Fain was an upgrade.

Yeah I've got 9/10 of his Topps cards signed, 5 8x10s, a ton of signed ICs, and now I'm going to pick up some oddball items and hopefully get a 55 Topps signed.Originally Posted by jay1065
Nice pick-ups guys on the Freese and the Bender.
The Kahns sets were regional to the best of my knowledge, I know the Reds, Pirates and Braves were included. I used to have a number of Reds cards but somehow my brother ended up with them. There are some in my photobucket though if you are interested in looking.

Nice cards. Do you have any idea how they were packaged? I can imagine most were trashed and that a lot are in really bad shape.Originally Posted by rc4157
The color cards that I have actually came as part of the wrapper around the hotdogs! I can remember as a kid looking for particular players before I'd let mom buy a pack. So you can imagine the packages had been refrigerated along with the condensation, etc... that goes along with selling hotdogs. Also, stupid kids, i.e. yours truly would put them on a board and put pin holes in them. I know I had Rose, Perez, May, Edwards, Maloney etc. of the Reds from around '66 - '68 but my brother won't give them up!!!
These had to be cut off the rest of the wrapper. I don't believe the older cards had to be cut.
Just checked my almanac, Kahn's started in '55 with a 6 player Reds set and continued producing cards through '69. In '66 they became part of the ad (tab) and of course they are worth more if they haven't been cut. Of course, I cut them off. Oh well, I didn't want that hotdog ad on my cards at the time.

Thats cool that you remember that. I guess a PSA 4 probably isn't as bad as I thought. Thanks for the info.Originally Posted by rc4157
