2001 Donruss Anniversary Originals BGS buy backs

Im pretty suprised that these seem to have no value to them.

Yes I know the only thing which seperates them from a basic card is the label on the slab but they still are not easy to find.

For those who dont know, when Donruss retruned (I miss those days) in 2001, I believe its regular Donruss issue from that year had one of these as a box topper.

The grades were pretty much brutal, loaded with 8's and less but player collectors still need them.

So, has anyone here completed this set or still needs some?

I have no clue how many (or which cards) would make up a complete set but if its small, I might go for it.

Donruss went through the trouble of having BGS slab them, they SHOULD have numbered or marked the card in the slab somehow

Re: 2001 Donruss Anniversary Originals BGS buy backs

Basically, they were supposed to be the best of past Donruss issues.

I cant say for sure but I dont remember them being wrapped in a pack once you opened the box.

It wasnt only rookies (I have an 87D Ripken) nor was it only from basic Donruss sets (I also have an 89D The Rookies Sheffield) and the selection spans from the greats to past stars to "kevin brown".......can you tell I dont like him

Wow, totally forgot there were autos too.

    That Bonds is awesome.

Anyone have a checklist of this buy back product?

Oh man I totally forgot about those. I think I have a 1990 Larry Walker graded 7 around here somewhere. I remember wondering why they bothered...

I need a Canseco for my PC but would hope to get one graded higher than a 7.5 if I have to buy a graded card.

I have 3 or 4 of the different grades for the Will Clark they released into those packs. They never sold for squat, so I always picked them up, still a variation to me. Never saw an autographed one though, that would be sweet!

I don't believe these cards are listed in the BGS OPG, are they? Maybe it's just that Rickey didn't have any cards in the set... I know that really changes the prices on cards, much to my dismay. If you sell a Rickey National convention card #/5 they vary from ~$5 for the non-listed ones, to ~$30 for the listed ones. At least, back when I used to keep track of these types of things...

Well, they actually did have "2001 Donruss Anniv. Originals" put on the slab label, so they are distinguishable from the regular graded versions. Maybe they could have also (or instead?) stamped some sort of logo directly on the card too.

I think they definitely got the buy-back thing right later on with the Recollection Collection autographs!
