I use the year by year team rosters at baseball-reference.com to figure out which teammates batted before him and which pitchers he played with which years to look for cameos.

Those are no doubt cameos of Grace. I have a few extremely fuzzy photos of someone supposedly Sandberg. I received a list of cameos from a fellow collector, and I'm taking his word for it.

    Re: The "Cameo" Thread

I collect these and have them listed in an Excel file I created.

It would be nice to find some new cards to look for.

    Thanks for the thread.

    Re: The "Cameo" Thread

Great idea for a thread - I'll see if I have any to contribute.

I once considered a Fenway Park collection, where I would get all cards where the photo was taken at Fenway. I'm too lazy to do it.
    Done.
The only card I want is a 2003-04 Bowman Chrome Patrice Bergeron Gold Refractor auto RC /5.

Didn't think about the 2001 Archive. Thanks!

    Re: The "Cameo" Thread

I started going through these a long time ago and apparently only got to 1992. A Canseco collector asked me to look for cameos. I was pretty shocked at how few cameos there were in the early McGwire collection considering the people batting around him and the fact he was a 1B. But these were the only distinguishable cameos up to 1992 I have listed. There were a bunch of guys like Carney and Boone but I didn't list those guys because I don't know if they have any collectors:

Looks like Palmeiro but not 100% certain:

Not the cameo you want to see but the topless guy in the top left's claim to fame (twice)

Canseco (there is both a regular and glossy version of the yellow star)

    Mattingly

    1998 Tek Pre-Production Blue (86)

    1999 Tek Gold /10 (7A pattern: 24), (7B patterns: 4, 28)
2014 Tek (Black/White Auto Proof /1) and (any remaining unique buybacks)
    1999 Ultimate Victory Parallels (151, 152)
1998 Donruss Crusade Purple Samples/Prototypes (two different, See examples here)

    Re: The "Cameo" Thread

Luckily I grabbed most of the data before we lost the last week, but there were a few posts at the end that I did not finish. I believe the Piazza was one of them. The link to the Cameo Checklist in my signature has the current data, so if you have info on a player that is not included, repost if you would like me to add it.

Lost a few posts, eh? Well, I know I had posted the link to my Bagwell Site, where I have added a "Cameo" button linking to my Baggy "Cameo" cards. So here it is again.

I was scanning in some old Sportcasters and ran across this one. The ESPN commentator, Tom Jackson, with a famous former Heisman trophy winner, O.J. Simpson.

Do you remember which card was a "supposed" cameo by Bagwell, but some thought it was Luis Gonzales? Did we ever make a final ruling on that one?

I don't remember the card, but the consensus seemed to be Gonzo.

Behind Mantle and Mays are the Yankees' Elston Howard, the Dodgers' Johnny Roseboro and the Braves' Hank Aaron:

Set builder, autograph hunter and fan of the Texas Rangers & '50s-'60s Yankees
