I was thinking about this last night after seeing Tyler Seguin score his hat trick on HNIC (Hockey Night In Canada)...
Has a team EVER had a draft pick (Seguin) that was drafted so high (2nd overall) and then that team goes on to win the Stanley Cup that exact same year with that Draft pick in the line up??
Are The Bruins the first team to ever do this with a player drafted either 1st or 2nd overall?
I haven't researched this at all, just thought about it in my head a little bit and the only team i can think of that even came close to this was the Pittsburgh Penguins. In 1990, the Pens drafted Jaromir Jagr 5th overall and then went on to win the Cup.
Can anyone think of any other teams to do this with a really high draft pick???
