It fell 43% last week and a law firm has already filed an investigation into the new TV deal, although I'm not sure if that means anything in the long run.
Vince had an emergency conference call today where he tried to smooth things over but it sounds like it didn't go so well:
*TV Rights Deals: Nearly doubled rights fees, including domestic (US) and
International. NBCU deal was nearly (but not quite) doubled. They are somewhat
disappointed in the deal, but overall they are happy considering the
international deals went according to (high) expectations.
*Core business is strong, ratings are good, and live events attendance is
strong
*$115 million have been spent on WWE Network over the past few years on
staff, production costs, capital expenditures, etc.
*Increase in revenues from TV rights deals to increase $75 million this year
from last year
*However, production costs will also increase $10 million as a result of the
new deals
*WWE Network can attract between 2.5-3.8 million subscribers globally within
a few years
*1.3-1.4 million subscribers needed to make up for cannibalization of PPV
sales (assuming complete cannibalization of PPV sales)
*If they have 1 million network subscribers by end of year, they will lose
approx. $35 million from the network this year
*Vince is indeed in London for Raw
*Coming out with the network prior to negotiating TV deals had a negative
impact on the TV deals
*All TV deals recently negotiated will be less than 5 years
*Their projections going forward are to assume complete cannibalization of
PPV sales (ie assuming no more ppv sales)
*Audible “****” from Vince when people on the call get disconnected lol
*Very confident in the network management team (in response to why there is
a high turnover amongst network staff)
