Last call for scoring your Week 1 matchups! The Week 2 schedule will be released on Monday, Jan 19th.

I've been spot checking everyone's scores, and I think everyone involved has a solid handle on how the game is played. A big thanks to everyone.

alexs64: Your game 4 result is actually 5. You were the home team, so don't forget your 5 points!

Y4NK335: You previously scored your game with Alex above, but it looks like you used game 29 for the 1962 Pirates, allthough you showed your correct C number as 39. Unfortunately, it doesn't change the outcome.

A few other housekeeping notes:

1. I realize that everyone has busy lives, especially during the week. This "league" is only meant to be a fun diversion until Opening Day and should rank at or near the bottom of your list of priorities. However, everyone must be willing to score their own team to compete for any prizes.

Any of your games that have already been scored by another owner is a courtesy and should not be taken as a given. It would not be fair for others to do your legwork only to have a prize awarded to you. I think we'd all agree with that.

If you don't think you'll be able to keep up, please let me know.

2. In the meantime, I'm giving a one week extension as a grace period for week 1. Please have Week 1 completed no later than Sunday, Jan 25th.

Going forward, any teams that are not scored by the following Monday will be logged as a default win for their opponent (assuming they scored their team before the deadline). If a matchup includes two unscored teams, both teams will take a loss.

After Week 2, I think we'll have a handle on who's playing. I will be sure to not annoy the others with a tag after that.

Thanks again for the interest and good luck to all!

cjedmonton - So when you say home team. You mean home team on the schedule and not home team in the Box Score. Right?

Exactly. You earn 5 points if you are the home team on the schedule.

A little confusing, but it's the only category where you disregard what actually happened in real life.

@cjedmonton so should we not be scoring both teams then?

I just feel it will be difficult for you to keep up if we each post. but however you want to do it is cool with me. Also is it ok if i knock out week two?

EDIT: NVM there is no schedule for week two yet so scoring would be incomplete.

Scoring both teams in a matchup is entirely up to you. You are under no obligation to do so. If you have time and are enjoying this, by all means.

To be honest, though, it is probably a better strategy to only score your own team going forward. If your opponent does not enter a score before the next schedule is released, it's an automatic win for you.

Also, checking multiple posts for the same matchup is not a burden at all. In fact, it's the easiest way to verify a score!

Thanks!

2. I can't believe I overlooked the "1st Place lead" category to go with the "Games out of 1st Place" one.

Since we are too far into week 1 to revise, we will include this category starting in week 2 (games 6-10). It will carry the same weight (1 point each). My apologies to everyone.

i ALMOST asked you if we got positive points for a lad in the standings before i scored my first game....i really wish i had...as it stands , i go 2-3 in the first 5 games , but my half point loss to you and my 1-point loss to musialcollector would have both been wins if i got credit for a lead in the standings by my team for that day.....sigh...2-3 or 4-1...quite the difference....

anyway....my first 5 :

8 vs cjedmonton..........8.5

6 vs tnp777................11.5

0 @ amish dave..........-13.5

9 vs musialcollector......10

16.5 vs therion...........-11.5

if you need my itemized game scoring results let me know and i'll edit this to include them....

.

I understand your frustration, but unless we get everyone to recalculate this week, we'll have to leave things as they stand.

Did you recalculate those two games for your opponent as well? If so, you still would have been 4-1?

Edit: I see that you would in fact have been 4-1

I am considering a solution for anyone in your situation.

As for an itemized score, please include it if you already have it available. No worries otherwise, but please include it going forward for the sake of transparency.

of the 10 teams used , i had two in first place - both in games i lost - while my opponent had the irst place team once (in a game he already had won big).....and despite 4 of my first 5 games at home , i just couldn't seem to catch a break , going 1-0 non the road and just 1-3 despite the homefield advantage...

bleah....i was hoping i could attach my excel file , but apparently that isnt an option....it really does look a lot nicer in excel , but at least it did retain MOST of the formatting so i think you can see everything you need....(fwiw , the "extra" games ahead info is included in its own separate column along with how it would have changed the total at the bottom of the 3 match-ups where a team was ahead....

Pine Tar:

You only have to do Games 4 and 5, as your other matchups are complete. You're welcome to check Games 1-3, of course.

IMPORTANT NOTE: I have decided to grandfather the new "1st Place Lead" scoring category back to week 1.

This is entirely optional, but if you choose to do this, you must be willing to check all of your matchups to see if it makes a difference in the outcome (whether it works in your favor or not). This means that you must also check your opponent's score as well.

You may not report only those games that work in your favor.

Please post any new outcomes.

So, to summarize the options:

A. Do nothing and apply the new scoring category starting in Week 2.

*Keep in mind that if your opponent(s) post an outcome-changing score, the new outcome will be used. So, if you had a great opening week to begin with, you probably aren't inclined to do this. Those with a poor start are most likely to take a second look.

B. Go through all of your Week 1 matchups and report any having a new outcome as a result of the new "1st Place Lead" category.

Scores that do not change the outcome do not need to be reported.

Here's a new template for your convenience:

Scoring Differential:
Strikeouts (1):
Complete Game (5):
2-3 Pitchers used (3):
HOF Pitcher Start (5):
HOF Pitcher Win (10):
Home Team (5):
Real Life Team Winning Streak (1):
Real Life Team Losing Streak (-1):
Real Life Team 1st Place Lead (1):
Real Life Team Games Back (-1):
