So today, 1/20/13, my dad, little brother and I went to Tribefest in Cleveland, OH at Progressive Field.
This was the first year the Indians have had Tribefest, previously it was called Tribe on Tour I believe, and man oh man did it show.
We arrived in line by about 11:45 A.M. The event started at noon and there were maybe a hundred people in front of us in line, so we were relatively close to the front. The gates opened at exactly noon and we went inside and proceeded to wait in another line so that we could fill out a waiver stating that no personal injury could be tied to the Indians organization, blah, blah, blah. The event took place under the actual stadium, most out in the left field area and under the home plate area (it was about 20 degrees in Cleveland today so thank god it was not outside at all).
Once that was done, we immediately found out where the autograph signings were going to take place. This is the part that really grinded my gears. I thought that we would just be able to wait in line while certain players were signing and be able to get their autos, but that was not the case.
They instead, were handing out tickets for autograph sessions. There were 4 auto sessions in total. So basically, when you walked in the door they handed you a ticket to get autos. We of course got the worse session with players that me and my brother did not want. Luckily though, I was able to obtain tickets for all three of us to auto sessions 3 and 4. These auto sessios did not start until 3:10 and 4:30 respectively, so we had a lot of time to kill.
There were various events inside the stadium that were pretty cool to look at.
The best by far was a tour of the Indians clubhouse. I was surprised they allowed the public access to them because they never do. If you are lucky enough to get a behind the scenes tour, you only get to see the visitors clubhouse at Progressive Field. So this was really a great treat.
We were able to see the weight room, walk through the actual clubhouse and see Terry Francona hard at work in his office lol. (Plenty of pics will follow).
Then we basically looked around some more, the batting cages, watched as Carlos Santana battled some youngsters at video games, then basically just waited in line for autos the rest of the time.
It was extremely busy and a little unorganized, but all in all a good time. Hopefully they do something different next year for the autos because it was a real cluster (insert unappropritate word here). It kind of sucked not being able to get all the players, but I got the main ones I wanted and was really happy!
If you took the time to read all of this, I thank you. Most people will probably just scroll through the pictures and thats ok.
Here are the pics:

Weight Room: (This honestly looked like a high school weight room lol. Hopefully the players dont actually work out in there. It was pretty crappy for a Major League Baseball club)
Asdrubal Cabrera's Locker (By the trash, I'm not a huge Cabrera fan. I think he is lazy so a fitting place for his locker lol)
General Locker Room Pics (Thought it was interesting that they had to put a sign up telling the players what to do before the game...are they really not smart enough to do that routine every game? 3rd pic)
