Had a similar injury and my muscles actually rolled down into my shin. It sucked and it hurt; a complete tear of the ACL/MCL/PCL, ripped off knee cap. If that's the case, he'll have major hyper-extension and no side-to-side stability until they reattach the ACL and MCL.

They said tear of minor or small ligament not MCL or acl
