Remember that old Circuit City Commerical? The one where the kid comes into the store.

"Excuse me, sir? Last week, I bought this. But today, I saw this. "
(Shows an advertisement for his same item advertised for less than he paid for his item.)

"I just opened the paper and there it was."

The clerk happily opens the register and gives him the difference. The child is merrily on his way, without feeling like a knucklehead because he overpaid.

Oh, how I wish it were that way with eBay! Last year, A card was up forever for $325 or so. I talked the seller down, and with 5x eBay bucks, I probably ended up getting it for $175. The problem? A week later, another came up and sold for about $100. I haven't seen another before or since.

I paid $100 for a low pop PSA 10 2008 Bowman Chrome Draft Clayton Kershaw rc. It was a $150 bin/Bo. I did not feel like playing the grading game trying to get a 10 and have several 9s and 8.5s come back so I submitted the offer and won the card. Flash forward about 2 months one comes up for auction, ends at $45. Oops. Should have waited.

A better question would be is there anyone this has NOT happened to. :)
I sheepishly admit to the buying the following. Definitely an impulse buy:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/ROBERTO-ALO...647761?hash=item3f58605491:g:SaMAAOSwwE5WYPXy
And lo and behold, this showed up a few days later:

Damn! I know the one I got was a graded 9, but that that actually makes my purchase extra dumb....because I'm not into grading, and in fact I immediately busted it out of the slab! This one is a big reason why I have gotten more patient about not buying cards I need unless the price is right...

I paid over $400 for the Mattingly Scoremasters Sample promo card as I hadn't seen one on ebay in years. I guess people saw how much it went for because after I bought it there has been about five others listed with the lowest going for about $200. I noticed the same thing happened with the Donruss Acqeous test card.

The /99 one? I sure did ... couldn't resist. It is soooo sparklyyyyyy!

^^^ Exactly. I overpaid for my Belle but I just couldn't help myself. One of the coolest card designs ever in my opinion. And it doesn't seem like too many come up for sale.

I'm a sucker for "firsts" so I overpaid for this one from the first cut autograph set ever made.
