All right everyone, 2019 Panini Leather and Lumber just released, Wakefield is making his first appearance of the year in this product. The pics I've seen so far look pretty sweet. If anyone is breaking this and finds a Timmy let me know!

Wakefield has seen two releases so far, both Panini. Leather and Lumber, which is very frustrating as I've only seen one so far...and it's a redemption and now he's in Optic. I've seen several posted for sale from the optic release, they look nice, hopefully I'll get some soon, looks like, per usual, his offerings are on the lower numbers.
My biggest frustration is how is he a live release in one set then a redemption in another!? I know one is a sticker and one is on card but still, it's clear they have a contract for multiple offerings for at least one year, how do they get one and not the other??
Hopefully some pics coming soon...

Some recent pickups, Panini wanted to toss him in multiple releases so I've been feverishly watching the secondary market.

Quite a few pickups in the collection, relatively anyway. Panini tossed him in several releases and I've been able to get most of what I've seen.
This completes the Optic Significant Signature rainbow.

2019 Immaculate rainbow, missing the Platinum 1/1.

Base/49, Gold/25 and Blue/5. The base is gold and the gold is a holographic gold even though it looks silver in the pic.

I like the design of this set the best of the sets he is in but the paralells are the lamest, just a different color foil in the name, it's noticable but it doesn't really pop. I have one more on the way and one i lost out on last week. A friend of mine was able to secure one of the printing plates in a break so I should be able to work a deal for that as well.

Cool pickups man.

Thanks, I've got the opposite going on with my Wakefield collection as you do with Alomar, I'm psyched when he's in new releases because I don't have much left from his playing days to chase and it's only amounted to maybe 100 cards total since he retired, not 100s each year.

I can totally dig that. If it was 20-30 cards a year, I'd be all over them. But we're currently at 397 new cards for 2019, so yeah. But for 2019 there have been a number of really cool releases that I have been going after. Maybe not the complete rainbows, but multiple cards per set. I'm up to 80 for the year, as opposed to 28 from last year.

Funny thing - Sandy Alomar Jr seems to be everywhere these days. Including parallels and online releases, he's probably at 100 cards for 2019. Pretty astonishing for a 13.7 career WAR player. But these card companies are more reactionary than anything, so if a player sells, they'll print the hell of out him.

Also - Wakefield is one of 3 pitchers with exactly 200 career wins, with Chuck Finley and George Uhle (whoever he was!). This fact is stuck in my head because now and then I play these baseball history quizzes on sporcle.com, and when I do the one for career pitching wins leaders it ends at 200 wins.

Thanks, I've got the opposite going on with my Wakefield collection as you do with Alomar, I'm psyched when he's in new releases because I don't have much left from his playing days to chase and it's only amounted to maybe 100 cards total since he retired, not 100s each year.

Finally around to posting this monster. This is the #/5 version. I saw at least two of the /3 versions sell on eBay, I was the underbidder on one of them.and the 1/1 was sold by a guy I have been in contact with to a Rivera collector so looks like I'll have to settle as this being my line example of the collection, but boy oh boy, what an example!

I don't do much in photos, I'm also saving my money for what is hopefully the last release he's in of the year as flawless breaks today.
