Out of curiosity, now that Jeter and Giambi have retired, does any current player have a RC before 1994?

According to an article that is just over 1 year old, Jeter and Konerko were the longest. If Konerko still playing, then he is the grandpa of baseball.

After that it said D. Ortiz and R. Weeks both had their debut in 2003. Seems no other player from the 90s is still active!

Nah..that list would still be quite long. A lot of guys that made their debut in the late 90s are still around..Bartolo Colon, Latroy Hawkins, Adrian Beltre, Carlos Beltran, Bruce Chen, etc.

Not to mention the list from 2000-2002 would be extensive. Pujols, Ichiro, Miguel Cabrera to name a few.

I honestly can't think of anyone with a RC before 94 that's still active. There are several in 95 I can think of. Beltran, Arroyo, Colon, Andruw Jones (in Japan).

I thought Konerko retired?

So many people don't acknowledge ARod already so I guess that's how he hasn't been mentioned yet. His RC is from '94.

Konerko retired last September, but he indeed did have a RC in the '94 Topps Traded set.

Obviously I was not actually thinking about the subject matter when I posted, as there have been several examples. proves you can't believe everything you find on the internet. I believe it was the earliest debut by team, but that would still probably not be accurate either.

If Japan counts then Julio Franco has them all beat, 1982 Rookie. He just signed with a Japanese team this month. Otherwise, Is Carlos Beltran still around?
