Always a good watch every year on this day...

http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=YhtuMrMVJDk

"Mr. Vice President, Mr. Speaker, Members of the Senate, and of the House of Representatives:

Yesterday, December 7th, 1941 -- a date which will live in infamy -- the United States of America was suddenly and deliberately attacked by naval and air forces of the Empire of Japan.

The United States was at peace with that nation and, at the solicitation of Japan, was still in conversation with its government and its emperor looking toward the maintenance of peace in the Pacific.

Indeed, one hour after Japanese air squadrons had commenced bombing in the American island of Oahu, the Japanese ambassador to the United States and his colleague delivered to our Secretary of State a formal reply to a recent American message. And while this reply stated that it seemed useless to continue the existing diplomatic negotiations, it contained no threat or hint of war or of armed attack.

It will be recorded that the distance of Hawaii from Japan makes it obvious that the attack was deliberately planned many days or even weeks ago. During the intervening time, the Japanese government has deliberately sought to deceive the United States by false statements and expressions of hope for continued peace.

The attack yesterday on the Hawaiian islands has caused severe damage to American naval and military forces. I regret to tell you that very many American lives have been lost. In addition, American ships have been reported torpedoed on the high seas between San Francisco and Honolulu."

"I believe that I interpret the will of the Congress and of the people when I assert that we will not only defend ourselves to the uttermost, but will make it very certain that this form of treachery shall never again endanger us.

Hostilities exist. There is no blinking at the fact that our people, our territory, and our interests are in grave danger.

With confidence in our armed forces, with the unbounding determination of our people, we will gain the inevitable triumph -- so help us God.

I ask that the Congress declare that since the unprovoked and dastardly attack by Japan on Sunday, December 7th, 1941, a state of war has existed between the United States and the Japanese empire."

Thanks,
Jeff

I was there to mark the 50th anniversary. My ship escorted the USS Missouri to her final resting area. I was so happy to be a part of that history to honor those from that terrible day.

I hope everyone has a great day......

Sorry for the long read but here was what my family and I did with our friends.

Had some fun last night with good friends and took them out to dinner. We also made someones night. Had Dinner at Texas roadhouse. Are Server was a young lady named Mandy and she was about to graduate from Northern Illinois University Soon with a sociologically degree, and was working to supporting her family Mom Dad and a younger Brother. Her Parents worked hard to put her thru school as well as herself having to work too. She told us that after she graduates she will continue to live with her parents so they keep up with things in their lives. I assumed bills and life itself....

So when the bill came I signed it and gave it back to the server, and had a tip of zero on the receipt. Mandy looked at the bill and looked shocked. And I could tell she was trying to understand why I did that since there was 6 of us in the party and she was great, always at the table seeing if we needed anything.

I told her that zero on the bill was not because she did something wrong, it was because for everything she did do. I told her the tip was behind the receipt and wished her the best in what ever you do, and when she gets a chance, she could use the tip to help her family, or take them out for dinner. She looked puzzled since the tip should have been about 30 dollars on our 150 bill. So I told her took to look at it really close. So she took the group of money and seen there was more then 2 twenties and then counted it. Her eyes got wide and even started to tear-up since see realized her tip was $100. I told her we were blessed recently (the 1k lottery win on Thursday but I did not tell her that) and we were paying it foreword and she is the lucky recipient of said random act of kindness. I also said the world is full of bad people, but make yourself one of the good ones.

This seems to become a tradition with me and my family, because I did the samething last year on the Day before Mothers day at a steakhouse near us too. Since I won 1k on a ticket that cost me 20 bucks to play. That person got 100 dollars too.

I'm a firm believer of pay it forward if you can, it makes the world a better place when you do.

Again have great day everyone....... I know I'm going to.
