27 is not even that ridiculous. I paid 50 for one of my Sandy Alomar diffractors. I did that because I lost out on one because I wasn't willing to bid 50.

Thanx guys. I feel a little better now. Like I said, we have no choice if we want to complete our players collections. Of course I had to multiply the 87 diffractors I still need by $27. Wow, it's not pretty haha. Let's hope it doesn't get any higher than that.

Usually when I get up in the morning for work I go on my phone to check the newly listed item for Ellis Burks on Ebay. Well yesterday was no different. Most of the time there's nothing I need but this time there was a 98 Topps Tek Diffractor as a BIN which I needed. It's one of the most exciting things to me finding one of those. I frantically hurry up to buy is as if someone else is dying to find this card haha. The only lousy part is I paid a little over $27 shipped for it, but what choice do I really have? I either buy it for a ridiculous price or possibly never find it again. I'm sure plenty of others have gone through the same thing with this set. They have us right where they want us lol.

Congrats on the Ellis Burks diffractor! That's great. I think you did good at that price. I would pay $27 shipped for a Thome diffractor anytime. You are right, that particular card might not ever show up again, or anytime soon. Hope you have a great Thanksgiving.

u2me57 Thanx a lot! It's a little tough paying that for a Burks knowing he's priced as a common. Obviously someone like Thome would go for quite a bit more. I really wish we knew how many were made of the diffractors. Or maybe not haha. Hope you had a great day! Take care.

So a generous FCB member contacted me to send me a 1998 TEK 41p41 of Pedro Martinez as a freebie.

Down to final five cards to complete a 90 card 1998 Topps TEK Same Card #/ Pattern # set (one example of every pattern in one 90 card set)

13p13(Mark McGwire), 21p21(Roger Clemens), 51p51(Cal Ripken, Jr), 61p61(Troy Glaus), 63p63(Paul Konerko)

I also collect ANY Pattern # 1 1998 TEKs and another OTHER Same Card #/ pattern # 98 TEK cards for a couple other sets of those I have more than half of completed...

I received my COMC Black Friday order today. Knocked off 3 Schillings and 5 Rolens from my list. I should have a package from togaman later this week too.

Miss the good old days where you could pick up reasonably priced TEK diffractors with a few even mixed in with ebay lots sold off in the early to mid 90s TEK lots.

1998 Gwynns Needed: 4, 15, 28, 29, 30, 34, 56, 62, 65, 68, 69, 75, 84, 90

Extras I have: 2, 6, 11, 13, 16, 17, 19, 22, 24, 28, 44, 44, 48, 58, 80, 87

I finally have more "extras" than "needed"...remembering the days you could trade one for one to complete sets! :grouphug:

Anyone have a stray Gwynn laying around?

Received my Teks from togaman. Brings me up to 30 of 90 Rolens and 63 of 90 Schillings.

Thanks for letting me know you received them. The Schillings should not be too hard to find. The Rolens a bit more difficult
Have you looked at sportlots?

Came across this tonight in a box full of unorganized Andruw cards. I must have put it in there when I moved 3-4 years ago and never got around to organizing them. Not sure how I missed it for so long but it's nice to knock another one off the list. This is my 27th.

Big thanks to Rich, as I've now hit a milestone. I'm within five cards of completing both my Robin Ventura and Paul Konerko sets! Very excited!

Congrats on the unexpected Andruw diffracter. That's awesome! One of the advantages of having unorganized boxes of cards. :p I need to start looking through my unorganized stacks of baseball cards. Thanks for the motivation.
