8. S. Perez - C
9. C. Ripken, Jr. - SS

C-Yadi Molina
1b-Jeff Bagwell
2b-Craig Biggio
SS-Barry Larkin
3b-Nolan Arenado
Lf-Barry Bonds
Cf-Ken Griffey Jr
Rf-Vladimir Guerrero
Rhp-Tim Wakefield
Lhp-Randy Johnson
Closer-Rod Beck

I only wanted to use players I watched a lot of, so none of those monsters from 70s and before. I tried to avoid going heavy on Red Sox guys as well. Third was probably my toughest choice, I hesitated with Arenado because he's still relatively young and passing over guys like Rolen, Beltre and Chipper was tough. Beck is definitely my.kost out there choice but he reminded me a lot of that Yankees pitcher in Major League, plus...that stache was epic.

No Mike Schmidt?

It's the 2008 World Series team that was listed.

I'll go with players that I grew up watching:

1B - Pujols
2B - Cano
3B - Boggs
SS - Ripken Jr.
C - Mauer
LF - Henderson
CF - Trout
RF - Vlad
DH - Thomas

SP - Maddux
Johnson
Martinez
Kershaw
Scherzer

RP - Rivera

Now if we are supposed to go with any players from any time period, then my list would look quite different with just a few remaining from whom I've watched.

This would be my version of that...

C Jesus Montero
1B Travis Lee
2B Gregg Jefferies
3B Drew Henson
SS Benji Gil
LF Ben Grieve
CF Lastings Milledge
RF JD Drew
P Brien Taylor
P Todd Van Poppel
P Mark Prior
P Bryan Bullington

Drew? Harsh grading putting a RF with 45.9 career fWAR including an 8 win season on the bust list. That puts him in the top 40 RF of all time. I know he didn't live up to the hype (nobody could have) but he had a damn fine career.

I don't think that you have to be complete dog**** to be considered a "bust." If your hype puts you at X level, and you perform at Y level, and the difference between X and Y is HUGE, you're a bust.

If Drew would have just gotten drafted and had that career, I'd agree that it was just fine.

But when you present yourself as the greatest of all time, you have do better than mediocre. Drew had more [self-imposed] hype on him than anyone in recent memory, true. He didn't come anywhere near fulfilling the hype. Going from GOAT to one single All-Star Game appearance, in my opinion, is a bust.

Man, when JD Drew was coming up through the Cardinals system I literally heard people saying he was going gone the next Mickey Mantle.

He was a complete bust, and his own worst enemy. Him and Colby Rasmus should never procreate.

These are facts. He had the potential to be so much more
