That's the graphic designer who worked on at least some of the cards in 2004 Skybox LE Artist Proofs, as evidenced by this card:

Since this is one of the 7 evanescent cards I'm missing of Jonny Gomes, I figure it can't hurt to try to get in touch with Shakira Hameed, and see if they know anything about it. Anyone know anything about this person?

Her signature sure did degrade as she signed cards.
Compare that signature to this one on a football card:

Haha, I guess signing 11,000 cards gets old at some point. Like after the 50th signature.

What's the story behind these cards? First time I've heard of them.

They're from 2004 Skybox LE. The base set had 160 cards---1-110 weren't serial numbered, while 111-160 (cards of "leading prospects") were numbered between /99 and /299. There are four parallels:

Gold /150 (generic parallel)
Artist Proof /50 (signed on back by "Fleer Graphic Designer Shakira Hameed"---all the proofs I've seen have been signed by her, but it's possible others also signed)
Photographer Proof /25 (back of card mentions who took the photograph on the front)
Executive Proof /1 (signed on back by a Fleer executive)

Pictures of the three variations I have are below, plus an Executive Proof back pulled from eBay. I also have copies of the Gold Proof and the Photographer Proof which are not numbered, and were presumably intended factory replacements sold during Fleer's liquidation. The latter is pictured, although I just got the Gold Proof without numbering today, and I haven't scanned it yet. (I have not seen factory replacements for the base, Artist Proof, or Executive Proof of Gomes, and they may or may not exist.)

No problem! I kinda like this set: it isn't bogged down with meaningless parallels, but instead has interesting ones highlighting the people behind different aspects of the card.
