Honestly I wish he hadn't been in so many new products this year. Make a few, like A&G or Gypsy Queen or even the autos in the base Topps set, but EVERY Topps set seemingly has a Pedro card in it. To make matters even more complex, they've basically shown him in every uniform he ever wore except for the Phillies.

it's been a more active collecting year on that front. not complaining, but i wouldn't mind if Topps dialed it back a notch or two next year

Finally picked up the regular acetate /99 auto to finish this rainbow...i redeemed the gold, silver and bronze ink exchange cards and waited patiently on the redemptions. Topps was kind enough to send me the #1 /1, #1 /10, and #1 /25 cards, and more importantly, the autos all look great in person.

i had to scan the /99 with the scanner cover down, otherwise the clear acetate resulted in a black background on the card (which looks cool as heck) - but then the blue ink autograph didn't pop on the card.

and i finally tracked this one down a couple months back...to finish the 2013 Five Star auto rainbow (only 3 cards fortunately, numbered to 1, 25, and 50)

and lastly, my first Pedro Martinez Recollection Collection auto!

p.s. these are all 'recent' pickups since June. i just got around to scanning, resizing, uploading, etc. all the boring admin stuff!

Well I'm not a Petey collector per say but as a Mets collector I recently got this little guy in

some recent pickups...i really like the last card, supposedly from the 2004 Topps Chrome set. it looks like it was a planned nickname autograph set, but who knows...there was a seller on ebay with a few cards form this subset, only 1 of each. i wish i had made a note of the other players. but all of them looked to be back doored, unreleased, and had no autographs or topps certified stickers.

the first two cards below - well, not much needs to be said.

2015 Topps Tribute Milestone Relics #d to 10 - from the game where Petey recorded his 3,000th strikeout. i even looked up the sticker on MLB's website. this is one of my favorite subsets from 2015 releases so far.



2009 Ultimate Patch Ultimate Collection #d to 35 but SP - one of UD's legendary last sets. Pedro has two cards on this checklist - the much more common features him in a Mets uniform, with a Mets patch, though the card says "Philadelphia." The other features him in a Red Sox uni with a Red Sox patch, but still says Philadelphia. I've only seen one Red Sox version in the last five years. I've heard from other collectors that this was an SP, similar to the Ken Griffey Jr Reds version in this set, and that not all 35 serial numbered cards made it out.



2005 Leather and Lumber Materials Bat Barrel #1 /1



2013 Topps Five Star Bat Knobs #1 /1 - to my knowledge Pedro's only bat knob card to date. and this was a sick year for Five Star. the only Pedro card I am a missing from this set is his dual auto with Ted Williams (print run of 3, all redemptions, unsure if ever fulfilled). Anyways, when this bat knob was first listed, around end of year 2013, i missed it and was the underbidder. Looked like a collector at the time bought up a bunch of Five Star bat knobs. Recently a bunch were listed at auction by Probstein, and despite the price, i'm glad i had a second chance to add it.

Nice job G ! I watched those Pedro's and yeah they did get up there , but glad you added them !

^Thank Ryan. Definitely felt a bit like "When it rains, it pours" in terms of stuff coming out of the woodwork. cash flow wasn't happy, but dem cards are pretty!

Any idea on the scarcity of the silver foil versions of this card?

Awesome cards

I saw those Pedro barrel and knob cards and thought I might finally begin collecting him for real. They went a lot higher than I expected, and a lot higher than other top-tier hitters. I suppose scarcity contributed quite a bit. Miguel Cabrera has several of each kind of card, for instance, but if that's the only Pedro knob, it explains why it went for twice as much.

I just read his autobiography. Great read.

been a while since i posted...this card officially completes my 2013 Five Star run. I now have a copy of every single Pedro Martinez card in the set, including all three 1/1's - the 1/1 base auto, the bat knob, and the dual cut signature book with Ted Williams. Technically there are 3 different version of the dual Williams auto, this is #MW3 . I know a second redemption popped up on ebay but not sure what the redeemed card looks like and if the Williams cut auto is better. this one isn't great, but still good enough in my book.
